Didn't see anything else about this:

The idea of there being another Alien film has been going on forever. We’ve heard rumors of sequels, remakes, reboots, re-imaginings, and everything else under the sun for the franchise that was originally spawned by director Ridley Scott. Today I’ve learned from several legitimate sources that there will be another Alien film, but it will be a prequel. Over at Collider they caught up with Tony Scottand he confirmed this development and even announced it’s director.

Scott (brother to Ridley) stated that Carl Rinsch would be taking over to helm the next film in the popular series. He seemed ecstatic that the director would be a part of the franchise that his brother created.
"Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien. He’s one of our directors at our company. I’m excited cause Ridley created the original and Carl Rinsch is one of the family."
He also stated that even though he can’t give a prediction as to when the film will be released, he expects production to begin sometime later this year. It turns out that Rinsch is a commercial and video director for Scott Free Productions. I know I shouldn’t hold that against him, because there are plenty of feature film directors who started out in the same arena. Plus, he’s gotten the stamp of approval from both Ridley and Tony Scott, those two are hard to please. They don’t like anybody!
I’m still weary on the idea of another installment of Aliens. Hollywood has gotten way too comfortable with overextended franchises that go beyond the trilogy point. Alien is one of the many sci-fi classics that they should put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on, but when executives smell money and opportunity there’s nothing we can do to stop them.

Think they are making a Predator 3 too.

Do you want to see this? Or should they have left it alone?

When will they announce Alien vs. Predator #14?

I actually wouldn't mind a prequel, provided that the Scott brothers closely monitor the script and production of it. No more sequels for either franchises.

I am tempted to see what they can do with Alien vs. Predator though :p

The first one had a story line that had potential but no blood/guts. The second was the exact opposite.

cheers for bringing this to my attention though :thumbsu:

I've always maintained that Alien 3 should have been made to William Gibson's script. It was a very good script (except for killing off Cpl Hicks before the movie started).

The franchises should be left as they are.

What he said. :thumbsu:

Have you got more details on said script?

That's what really irked me about Alien 3 was killing of everyone bar Ripley right at the start, it made Aliens almost pointless in the end.

I agree the killing of all the other characters at the start of alien 3 was just a lazy plot devise to show that Hicks and the little girl didn't want to be in it.

alien ressurrection was just palin weird. Almost saved by the cool merc crew with Ron Perlman at his obnoxious best. But Weaver acted like a cross between someone possessed and someone stoned off their scone, and that alien/human baby was just plain lame.

Am not too confident that this prequel will be any good given all the alienVpredator crap of recent years

They should have never made #2

Although I love the piece of trivia about #1 that a producer / director told all the cast before filming the bloke with the biggest guns would get an award and they all pumped like crazy. Some seriously ripped rigs wandering round that movie :thumbsu:

I can't wait for Alien versus Terminator - I'm sure such a movie would have great potential.
lol.... maybe Alien vs. T1000

the alien would grab the terminator and attempt to spike it's head with that second mouth that comes out of it's head. the terminator would be like, ha, points the finger, *SPIKE*, game over dude.

sorry bit nerdy

And then the aliens acid blood disolves the T1000

Essentially, the AvP films already are prequels to the Alien films, but with Predators chucked in. Don't see how an exclusive Alien prequel would deliver anything new really.

They really missed the boat on the AvP films during the 90s. AvP should have been a joint sequel to both Alien/Aliens and Predator/Predator 2, getting Sigorney Weaver and Arnold (Dutch frozen and thawed out a few centuries later) on screen together.

Your right, I never thought of the potential but in the early 90's that would have been awesome pairing.......arguably you could say that cost them a $100M mistake in the 90's:thumbsd:

Imagine being a christian, and watching a nativity scene where Joseph staggers in drunk and sticks his **** in baby Jesus' mouth. That is what AvP is like to a fan of alien(s). And I love Predator.

I just can't buy into all this cross-overs and prequels and remakes crap. It's beginning to get out of control.
