Cats in AA

Hey guys, good luck in the finals hope you do well, you deserve it :)

Anyway, I am doing an All Australian Team, and since I do watch a few cat games, but probably not as many as you guys and girls, I was wondering what your thoughts were on which cats may get all australian selection.

I have Matthew Scarlett, but he seems to be pushing up the ground a bit, do you think he could get the job at CHB or even HB? I had him at full back, but Glass looks to get FB even though I think Scarlett has had a better season. I got Chad Cornes as CHB, but he tends to play on the ball as well. I left Scarlett HB for now, do you think he might get the spot there since he can play up the ground as well unlike Glass?

I have Bartel in my centre, and Ablett on the ball as well. I got Milburn in the back pocket and I made a tough choice and put Steve Johnson because I think since he has come back, he has gotten plenty of goals and possessions, and put him in my forward pocket.

What are your views on my selections, try not to be bias as well, I only had one docker in my team and you know its Pavlich :)

Thanks.

Re: Cats in AA

Ablett and Bartel are obvious. Johnson would definetly have to be considered as well. Ottens for the ruckmen on the bench - Cox is the best in the competition but watching alot of games Ottens seems to be the next, although that is arguable. Scarlett would have to be considered too - he is in AA form but unfortunately so is Glass, and the selectors could go either way with that really.

I would say Corey could get it but well... thats three midfielders from one team which won't happen. Not sure about anyone else - Egan and Milburn possibly.

I would put Jnr, Bartel & Scarlett as certainties. Scarlett should be fullback, he has been better than Glass.

Steve Johnson is probably our next best option but no certainty.

Ottens, Ling, Corey, Milburn & Egan are all outside chances

Re: Cats in AA

Ablett, Scarlett, Milburn, Bartel - Guaranteed.

Chances: S.Johnson, M.Egan, C.Ling, J.Corey, B.Ottens.

I reckon we will have 5 AA's.

Bartel, Junior and Scarlett are monties, and two of Corey, Ling, Dogga and Milburn will make it. Probably Dinga and Dasher because they have been close to a gig before and missed out (on more than one occasion) and these things are taken into consideration at the selection table

Ottens, Mackie, Egan and Mooney would also be under strong consideration, but won't make it.

Re: Cats in AA

So Scarlett to line up at FB definetly and Glass not to make it? I do agree Scarlett has been the better of the two, just thought Glass would get in as well as Scarlett. My forward line is currently something like Riewoldt, Brown, Harvey, Johnson, Pavlich and B. Johnson. If you don't think Steve Johnson will make it, who has been better? Franklin? Ebert? I think Johnson kicks goals, sets em up and gets heaps of the ball...

Thanks for replies.

If I was picking forwards Brown, Pavlich and Franklin would be my first 3 picked. Riewoldt has not had the effect of those 3 so maybe the bench for him. Ebert has kicked 50 goals this year so deserves a forward pocket spot too.

Glass has had a terrific year, but got torn apart by Richo two weeks ago. Meanwhile Scarlett kept Hale goalless then conceded 2 to Westhoff. He should get fullback clearly.

Re: Cats in AA

I had Egan at CHB. Chad Cornes hardly played there at all this season. I've got him in the centre.

Cameron Ling also should be in the team as I reckon he has been the number 1 tagger in the comp this year.

Re: Cats in AA

It's hard to say who will make it this year from the GFC, but I guess we can pencil some in. I would think that Bartel and G.Ablett are definites. I think the players with the next best chance are Johnson, Scarlett, Ling and Ottens. I can't really see any others making it, but if I had to add a few more, they would be: Corey, Milburn, Egan and Mooney.

Re: Cats in AA

Ottens won't make it. It'll be Cox and McIntosh.

I reckon Corey, Milburn and Egan all deserve it but I don't think they will be selected. I have gaz, jimmy, scarlo, linga, egan and SJ in mine but i think the selectors will only pick gaz, jimmy, scarlo and maybe ling.

Agree with you on the rucks , think it will be Cox & McIntosh which leaves Ottens out. There are so many that deserve to be in but carnt see them getting through. Joel , Milburn & Linger expecially & also Moons has stood his ground well all year and also would be close.
Just kinda think the 3 big certain names will be our picks (Jr , Jimmy & Scarlo)

Re: Cats in AA

My 4 certainties are Scarlett,Bartel,Ablett and Ling. The selectors surely will have to pick a tagging mid,if so Ling will/should get the nod ahead of Sewell and Cornes.
S.Johnson,Milburn,Corey and Ottens are all a chance.

Re: Cats in AA

Glass will easily get all-australian full back. Scarlett is nothing to him. Go the Magpies!

Please explain how. As recently as 2 weeks ago Glass was torn into little pieces by Matthew Richardson. 15 marks taken on him. Explain that.

Scarlett has not remotely been beaten that badly all season. I know all about Brad Johnson in round 1, but he was only on him for a quarter and half (and conceded 3).

You're a Collingwood supporter - didn't you see what Scarlett did to Rocca in round 15? That's as comprehensive a drubbing as you could ever see. Did the same to Fevola, Gehrig, the list goes on.

Well that's a powerful argument there. But for the future here's a hint: use of facts can sometimes bolster a weak or nonexistent argument.
