All Things Gather Round (Except our game!)

Hey guys,

I may be wrong but I couldn't find a thread for this, so thought I'd create one.

Who's going? How are you getting there, has the current petrol situation made you adjust your plans?

I'm going for the first time ever, I drive an electric car so I'm a bit fortunate in that regard. I'm only planning to go to our game but I assume I'll end up at a few more if tickets allow. What should I aim to do whilst in Adelaide (as a first time visitor). I'm into my walking/trails/exercise but am partial to a beverage as well.

I don't want this to turn into the preview thread, that'll obviously be posted after our game on Sunday.

Are we wearing a Gather Round specific guernsey like a lot of other teams are? I think Hawthorn is wearing a horrible all brown jumper with an old Hawk head logo on it. I’ve heard a rumour we could be rocking in this old jumper that I really don’t mind?

Cursed only because we would only ever play West Coast at Subiaco in it, when we were crap (McCartney era) and they were good. Other than that it looks great.

We played North in it too. We lost.

If it's one or the other, I much prefer we do the retro round robodog stuff in a late-season home game like we have where there might not be the interest and at least it gets people talking/going than Gather Round stuff, which doesn't do a lot to help the club or anything for its fans.

Catch the tram to Glenelg, then you can tick off 2 of your boxes, with a walk along the beach and plenty of spots for a beer

I lived there as a broke student 15 years ago, a lot of the places I frequented probably aren't where I'd go now! Though if they still do $10 jugs of full strength beer at the uni bar I'd be tempted...

If you're staying in the city and want something close there were some nice running trails along the Torrens e.g. from the city, through elder park past the stadium up to the lock and back up the other side of the river. Tram to Glenelg and walk/run along the beach is a good suggestion too. Rundle and Hindley Street have a heap of bars and cafes - nicer venues on the Rundle side and nightlife on Hindley. Pirate Life brewery is a good venue and reachable from the CBD by public transport.

Since you've got the car the Mt Lofty lookout is a popular hike and might be worth a look, you could head out to Hahndorf for a Stein of beer and a schnitzel and there are countless wineries in McLaren Vale and the Barossa to visit.

It was amusing to me watching Andrew Dillon trot over to Adelaide to put the squeeze of Peter Malinauskas earlier in the week. So as to begin 'negotiations' about the future of Gather Round. Im sure it went something like this: Andrew Dillon: "lovely event that you've built here. It'd be a real shame to see it go somewhere else in 2027. Now where's that blank cheque..."

If it's one or the other, I much prefer we do the retro round robodog stuff in a late-season home game like we have where there might not be the interest and at least it gets people talking/going than Gather Round stuff, which doesn't do a lot to help the club or anything for its fans.

If I never see Robo dog again it will be too soon Cartoons and Aussie rules football guernsey’s don’t go together very good at all, including our horrendous clash guernsey this season. I really like our ‘traditional’ white hooped clash guernsey.

Anstey Hill recreation park is a good hiking area if you're in the north eastern suburbs

I have tickets, and also an EV.

Snd access to free charging. I'm not sure if i am going, depends if I feel like driving there and back over a day because I need to be back for work (new job)

I too want red shorts, especially v North and WCE. And I reckon navy shorts too would look great to darken the clash if needed. Up until 1975 we wore black shorts every home game at the Western Oval. Both black or navy looks so good against the royal blue jumper.

Fuel crisis has now made me think twice about that, not entirely sure how me and the missus are getting there now.
