(Sorry to intrude)
This happened last year in the QB clash, Ben Sinclair was given a defensive forward tagging role on Watts and got right in his face even before the bounce. Ended up with 3 goals and a Rising Star nomination.
Just a question or two, do you guys have any other players on the list who can read the play and direct the defence or run it out? We don't really have any precision ball users in our back half aside from Reid but our loose man tactics usually work because Maxwell reads the play well and gets the ball moving quickly to our runners (if he doesn't randomly bomb it 50m forward).
I just think having Watts in the defence only works if he's being taught to defend first and play hard at the man. If not, it's really another case of Gibbs where his talents aren't being developed or utilised properly. IMO, he would look better on a wing or a high forward flank as an outside receiver where his defensive liabilities can be somewhat hidden and his strengths can be maximised. Blues have been doing this with Gibbs and although Bryce is still soft, he's probably harder than butter now and a much more damaging player.
I want to see an opposition player really get in his face and push him about.
I want to know whether he would push back or just take it.
