I agree about the media circus but the precedent should be set to the politicians that what is currently happening with lies, spin constant attacking is wearing thin with the voting public.

My point was more about money generated from Government seed funding should be investigated into Religious organisations, Hospitals and Education providers that fall under the category of non-for-profit.
Never know, maybe fees do not need to be increased, no emergency into medicare/hospitals etc.

Turnbull is in the same position as Rudd was in the Labor party. He's popular with voters but not with his own party members. So his chances of getting the leadership are pretty slim. Which is a pity because he's easily the best guy for the job.

They brought Rudd back to save them from oblivion at an election, it is starting to look like that for the Liberal Party.

There is one big difference with Rudd and Turnbull, Turnbull actually has currency in being competent, Rudd never did.

Part of the PM's problem is that he came to power with enough people, both internally and externally, having strong doubts about his ability to lead. He was given the chance to prove these people wrong and failed miserably, all of the doubts were confirmed.

They were idiots for ever dumping Turnbull in the first place, all because of their dogmatic thoughts on climate change and their corporate backers fearmongering about carbon tax. If they had've kept Turnbull from the start they could have actually been a stable long-term government with some centre-right reforms. Instead they went for the Mad Monk and his cronies trying to push through their neo-liberal fascist policies on an electorate who did not want or need any part of it.

Australia continues to be 15 years behind US and UK in everything we do.

The turn of the century saw an unprecedented media circus hit politics in the US and UK. The Iraq War helped that, but the early 2000's was the period where Fox News, CNN and MSNBC took over the US mainstream and the media coverage of politics went mental. At that time Australian political reporting was still dominated by the main newspapers and Sunday bulletins (which is where the US and UK were in the mid 80's).

Australia got on board the cable news and ABC24 constant news cycle in 2005ish, and along with social media, we've been whacked with an almighty media frenzy. No one can get traction because of it. Both parties need to adjust.

The US have moved through that phase, and the day to day cable news channels are falling in ratings and satirical political shows are taking over.

So if you want to invest in a winner, start a satirical Australian political talk show in about 2030.

I was watching a few old Frontline episodes the other day, and the one thing that struck me was Australia has no "Ray Martin" anymore. The days of having the kindly uncle who would reassure you that is all is well is gone. There are so many platforms with which to source information now that his role has become obsolete.

You completely missed the point. I could try to explain it to you but you will just miss the point again.

Firstly budgeting for infrastructure grants to states is completely different from budgeting for programs that go up in cost year after year and can be at risk of budget blowouts every year.
Secondly "giving billions to miners" would be another completely different budget cost - and am not sure how many "billions"we give to miners? I thouht they give to revenue via company tax, which a spending program like the NDIS does not.
Asinine stuff, but about what to expect on this forum from a lot of posters these days.

Do infrastructure projects ever go over budget or time...or does that just happen to social programs?
What about all those disabled people that work? Doesn't their tax count?
