DOCKERS!!
I remember when I was in year 2 or something...i'd be sitting at home herming away on me Sega MegaDrive, darting around with Sonic.
Now look at us. Games like Resident Evil, Grand Theft Auto 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the Gran Turismo series, the improvement and perfection of Wrestling games. But which console is the best.

In my house sits a Sony, N64, PS2, XBOX and PC...and I do believe that the PS2 is just the ultimate.

If you want to talk about the all time SH*TTEST console...can't get any sh*tter than the N64, or any Nintendo for that matter.

Anyone else with any opinions??

2. Super Nintendo

After that, it all comes down to personal preference.

I actually liked the Dreamcast how you can put little screen thing into your controller and see the stats or whatever on it. That was bloody awsome...

...as for the consol itself..

Playstation 2 has been the best consol for me as I dont own an Xbox but I think the Xbox may be a step above in some areas (customising music, interface.. etc)

PC isnt a consol but definatly the best for games.

If todays consoles went to prison PS2 would be Xbox's bitch.
As far as all time best I really liked megadrive and PS1. Super Nes was pretty good too but I would have to say Xbox is the best. Then again it depends on how you judge a console.

Best - PS2.........PSone..........Daylight.

Worst - N64.........Dreamcast.............Gamecube.

Most forgotten - Sega Saturn..........

The all time greatest console would have to be either the Sega Megadrive or the Sony Playstation. XBox is the best though, but not greatest. Megadrive and PS1 have time on their side so now they are like legendary consoles, in time I think the XBox will join them in this category.

Oh and dont forget the Atari 2600....an absolute classic.

Oh and the Commodore 64.....mmmmm Pirates :D

Dreamcast, the worst? Did you even have one? I bought one for $99 a few years ago when they were still around because my local Retravision had a deal on them. I have to tell you, it was a great console, especially the Sonic game, that was pure magic.

As for the most forgotton, there are a few others out there, for example, the Atari Jaguar, Mega Drive II CD Version (had both the cartridge slot and a CD slot). There is another one that I can't think of off the top of my head.

As for the best, well it all comes down to preference, and what kinds of games you like, because each cosole tends to excel in at least on kind of genre when compared to other consoles.

You obviously have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

I doubt you ever played more than 5 DC games, and if you did, then considering your apparent complete lack of any clue whatsoever, I can only assume you played 5 bad ones and then judged the console purely based on YOUR pathetic choice of games.

How can a console that is home to the following games....

Bangai-O
Bomberman (ONLINE)
Border Down
Capcom Vs SNK series
Chu-Chu Rocket (ONLINE)
Cosmic Smash
Crazy Taxi (ok - I'll admit Crazy Taxi 2 was sh*t)

Ecco the Dolphin
Ferrari 355 Challenge (ONLINE)
Get Bass
Giant Gram series
Giga Wing series
Grandia 2

Speed Devils series (ONLINE)
Street Fighter series
Starlancer (ONLINE)
Test Drive Lemans
Virtua Tennis series
Virtual On : Oratorio Tangram
Zero Gunner 2

.....be amongst the worst ever?

(how many of those games have you actually heard of? I'm guessing not many.....)

The ONLY conclusion I can come to (having played many games on every console in the past 15 years, except for the N64) is that you have no idea.

I suppose you also believe the Sony and Micro$oft bullsh*t about the PS2 and Xbox being the first consoles online......

As for Gamecube, it may be losing the race currently, but it is by no means anywhere NEAR being the worst console ever. (hell, the best games of the year on ANY platform - Viewtiful Joe & F-Zero - have just been released on it! You really are clueless, aren't you?)

N64?

Well, I never got into it, but even that had it's fair share of good games.

Now run along.

Trying to pick a worst console is a bit rough, all of them have had at least a few classic games that made them worth playing.

I've had most of the major consoles from the NES on (except Dreamcast or X Box, nothing against them though), and the ones I spent the most time playing were the Super Nintendo, the Playstation and now the PS2. The Playstation represented the biggest step forward in game quality for my mind, I was blown away by games like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 7 and the quality sports titles, they were so much better than what had ever come before. Mind you, all looking a bit dated now! And I do recall being blown away by Super Mario 3 when it first hit the NES as well. I thought they'd achieved video game perfection!

Ha ha, I just remembered that probably the first games console I ever had was as like a 5 or 6 year old in the early 80's, and it was Australian! The D|ck Smith Wizard, what a fine piece of equipment! Did anyone else out there have one? I wonder if it was actually developed in Australia or whether it was an overseas console that D|ck Smith slapped his brand on for Australian distribution?

"Home to" is a bad choice of words, it makes it seem like these games were exclusive to the console but I'm sure you know as well as I do the 3 games I listed and probably more came from earlier systems. Just thought I'd point out that although I never owned a DC the times I've played one I thought it was a pretty good console, ahead of it's time for sure and I don't think calling it the worst console of all time is fair. Just my point of view.

gPhonque I already know what your thinking, Don't even bother trying to have a dig, I can't be bothered with it :)

Sonic Adventure series: SA1 is still exclusive to DC. SA2 was ported over to Gamecube roughly 2 years AFTER it was released on Dreamcast.

Street Fighter series: Fair enough. Although the DC versions were certainly far superior to the PSX versions, which were the only other versions available at the time. (and the DC versions are still better than the PS2 versions....so it could be argued that the DC versions are still the ultimate ones to own. :D )

Ecco The Dolphin: Was that out on an earlier system? Either way, the DC version was a beautiful looking game at the time. And it still looks better than the PS2 attempt.

Anyway, half the games on my list have been ported over to PS2 (and a couple to Gamecube) since the demise of the DC. The fact remains that all of them look and play better on the DC than they do on the PS2 - not to mention the better sound quality of the DC - and considering most of them came out 2 years before they saw the light of day on the PS2, then it means a lot of people were still wasting their time with their PSXs whilst us real gamers were having fun with the Dreamcast for 2 years. (and still going)

Oh well, that was (is) everybody else's loss. :)

:p

What I'm "thinking" is only the well-educated truth - that the DC is arguably the greatest console ever. The fact that it still well and truly stands up next to PS2 is pretty damn good for a console that some morons are claiming to be one of the worst ever. (whilst in their next sentence announcing the PS2 to be the best....)

1. Dreamcast
2. Super NES (Super Famicom if you must)

*daylight*

3. PlayStation
4. MegaDrive
5. Master System 2 (shut up, I had some good games for it!)

I think that was released as one of the CD games for the Sega Mega Drive II CD version console. Still a Sega game though.

It wasn't just MegaCD, but MegaDrive, MS2, and Game Gear as well...Sega did so love sucking the life out of its franchises.
