Kelly to Freo is fine provided it’s through the draft cos that way Geelong get nothing and Freo use one of their high draft picks on Kelly that would otherwise been used on a talented youngster quite likely from WA

Unless Vozzo blows the negotiations, we almost can't lose this.
Bring in TK at fair price OR bring in Robertson + Rivers + watch Geelong get nothing.

Posted on the Geelong board, and posting here and the main board too. I'm sure just like me, most of you want this whole saga over and done with so everyone can move on. The only people winning here are the media, and literally no-one else.

"I'm of the opinion that we don't even need a 3rd club involved. Just give us the collateral, separate the two and let us work it out. It's not rocket science. Means all this BS media posturing ends and we get what we want and they get what they want. I.e. they give us 14, 24 and Future 1st & we give them TK and 36. Then, we can use any combination of 14, 17, 24, 36 & Future 1st, to swap with whichever clubs are looking to split their higher picks.

I see no reason to get WC to do the work, as it just means that negotiations drag on longer and this whole farce gets even more blown out of proportion.

Ralph is going on about how 'Geelong wants three 1st rounders', when that's not what has been said. It's been said that West Coast's two 1st rounders are not enough. Apparently all 1st rounders are the same, so you can offer 14 & 14-18, and that reflects previous trades of 7 & 7 with 27 back, 9 & 11 with 37 back, 6 & 19 with 30 back etc. It's just insane to me right now, lol. The media is just running with this narrative that it's the 'biggest trade since Judd', but not acknowledging that 14 & 14-18 is actually less than last year's collective academy points from 20, 22 and Future 2nd.

I'm so over it all, lol."

Curious on others opinion IF TK after 3-4 days hoping we get a deal suitable to both clubs, there is not movement. What do we do if TK asks us to get deal done or he will nominate freo as well in order to get what he needs (staying in WA). I'd hate to lose him to Freo when he wants West Coast.

Mostly good post but in the second half you should mention that the points total is lesser simply because Tim Kelly is now an uncontracted player and West Coast does not have significantly better trade currency than last year.

We stick to what is in our opinion a fair trade. Maybe slighly overs to what some would want but we don't get reamed. If we can't make it happen for what is fair, we walk away and go to the draft.

So was Treloar. Contracts make very little difference in this day and age. Especially with them getting broken left, right and centre. For example 'x has signed a 5 year deal and has said he wants to play out his career with y'...6 months later...'x has raised the possibility of returning to his native z, citing mental health/family reasons/improved opportunity/quest for success' etc.

Agreed with the trade currency, but it is enough as long as we send back our 2nd and can find a 3rd club that wants to gain academy points for next year (there'll be a few). The more I think about it, the more I think it's absolutely insane that we can't just do it ourselves. Why send you off searching for a pick, when we can just do it, and on our terms? Just non-sensical IMO.

Thanks for the share and I totally agree with the sentiment.

This trade has become a media and trolling Frankenstein. I want it done quickly and hopefully as fairly as possible for both sides.

Apologies if I'm intruding at all, but Geelong being stingy bastards about this whole situation and not looking out for Kelly's needs is just piss poor and unprofessional. I already hate the Cats with a passion and this just makes me hate em more. I feel that us Freo fans know we aren't getting Kelly, we'd rather see him just get home. I did think Peter Bell's comments yesterday were quite good in saying we as a club are aware of the fact that Tim wants to join you and because of that we're keeping our distance and letting you and Geelong talk things over, saying the only thing that would get us involved is if in the last hour you two can't work out a trade (which is highly unlikely).

While you're at it can you maybe try shafting Geelong a bit? Thanks
