some amazing voices in the solos that's for sure. I tipped room 1&2 to stay but was surprised room 4 got a reprieve.

You have to wonder about how they were managing those who were ill. That chick in the red fainted several times before her performance and they allowed her to go on. She should have been off to the hospital after the second time.

still missed many performances as per usual so some of those people we haven't even heard sing yet

We've just seen them do the additional delistings in Vegas. I think they started with 70, 27 went home they said so 43 left. Very cruel to call back night 1 contestants that went through and cut them without them getting to sing again. They could have at least done a sing off or something.

Wide open this year. Very early on I identify my absolute favourites and I have had one of them in the top 2 every year. This year my favourite didn't make the top 40 and again I put it down to forced song allocations and forced group situations where they get a few lines to show something and if the group harmonies are crap, they all get sent packing.

I'm really struggling to identify someone I really like this year now. Adam (?), the bearded bigger guy (Casey type I think they said) and Reed, the Partridge Family type member who jumped on the drums last week, seem pretty talented with a bit in their voice. Haley, I think the blonde chick and that tall girl. I suck at remembering names this year but can't be arsed searching for them.

That dude with the big hair (Deandre?) looks like a clear favourite to me. But to be honest I haven't paid as much attention to Hollywood week as I normally do. Will definitely check out the elimination shows (especially to find out why Tyler jumped in the water).

Adam Brock reminds me of Danny Gokey from a few years ago (they even look alike)

I really like Colton Dixon (the guy whose sister got cut). His solo on the piano was terrific.

Jen Hirsch is my favourite right now, her version of "Georgia on my mind" was amazing..gave me goosey's.

I also like the gay black guy Joshua ledets voice.

order of performers on the video (above) Joshua Ledet, Colton Dixon, Phillip Phillips, Jen Hirsch, Creighton Fraker, Shannon Magrane, Reed Grimm (These guys are all top 12 material)

Some great voices this year and I think some very talented people will probably miss out in the end. It's cruel to watch and I actually felt bad for some of those being cut in Vegas which I have never done before.

That cowboy guy really hasn't a clue he comes over a douche and I feel a bit sorry for him because his heart is in the right place but just lacks social skills. That duet turned out pretty amazing but I can't see the cowboy guy making it past the next cuts nor the Asian guy who comes across as a bit of smart arse to me.

The cowboy didn't even realize he was taking the piss. Brilliant, funny comment to the parents :)

Started promising, but this season is full of soft sooks.

After what was probably one of the weakest episodes ever, they bring out some class performances with an Elvis stage that was magnificent. I know you liked it :thumbsu: Even the cowboy teamed up nicely with the guy that hates him.

So far:

The Boys
1. Creighton Fraker
2. Joshua Ledet
3. Reed Grimm
4. Heejun Han
5. Phil Phillips
6. Colton Dixon

The Girls:
1. Jen Hircsh
2. Lauran Gray
3. Elise Testone
4. Erika Van Pelt
5. Chelsea Sorrell
6. Jessica Sanchez
7. Brielle Von Hugel

overall I will be happy when the live shows start I think the phoney tension building during these rounds has been over the top and just boring to be honest. Funny how all the people who haven't featured back stories pretty much got cut tonight.

Once again we got very little actual singing in this show and just got recap after recap after recap that in the end they could show very little of the actual performances.

Those responsible for producing the audition/Hollywood week/Vegas shows have produced a very lack lustre series so far. The only thing that is saving it is that they have such a talented group of young singers. It would be nice if they concentrated more on the performances and less on all the other crap. That is what we want to see after all.

Yep, very predictable.

So many times we said "never seen her before, so she's gone".

Not sure why they've left this years Danny Gokey dramatically hanging between episodes. He's a shoe-in.

Like you say though, there are some cracking voices, so should be good when the real stuff starts.

Not watching American Idol, but watched that clip.

The first one, Joshua Ledet was the stand out for me. His voice is something seriously special. It wasn't perfect, but his sound is somehow personal. Freakishly raw. Very goosebumpy.

The Top 24

The Guys
Creighton Fraker - the artist
Joshua Ledet - the artist
Reed Grimm - the dark horse.
Heejun Han - a bit creepy and a smart mouth.
Phil Phillips Jr. - the performer
Colton Dixon - My favorite male performer so far
Adam Brock - just like Danny Gokey and will probably make it through but end up being too one dimensional to win it (like Gokey).
Aaron Marcellus
Eben Franckewitz - can sing but needs a few more preseasons really.
Chase Likens
Jeremy Rosado
Deandre Brackensick - looks like another effeminate falsetto king. Real singers rarely use falsetto.

The Girls
Jen Hirsh - best voice out of the girls IMO.
Haley Johnson
Elise Testone
Erika Van Pelt
Chelsea Sorrell
Baylie Brown
Jessica Sanchez
Brielle Von Hugel - likeability factor is going to hurt her, especially with her annoying pushy mother in the background
Hallie Day - Is this her pr0n name?
Shannon Magrane - needs some fashion advice badly.
Hollie Cavanagh - she faced the judges with 2 others and the fact they only showed her singing out of the three it was no surprise she was chosen. Another poor example of the production of this show.
Skylar Laine

Once again most of the ones that didn't make it weren't featured much during the preceding episodes.

Not sure who I like out of this group. I prefer rock voices, modern or classic. Not a huge fan of country, r&b or pop stuff. Maybe Reed or Adam. Creighton could go there too I think. By the way Creighton Fraker and Reed Grimm .... awesome names.

On Heejun, forgot to mention that bit where we was anxious and Ryan asked him what he was sweating (over). His reply .... 'water mostly'.

I do like the majority of the girls so I expect my winner will come from there.

Who do we think will get the 13th male spot?

God i hope its not Ritchie or the big black guy.

I tend to think it will be Johnny Keyser because he wasn't even top 40 (harshly) so why would he be in the mix unless they wanted him back on?

But i would be happy enough it was him or that young dave, fan of both.

The black guy (Jermaine?) was devastated. Could be a late inclusion but they would only be forcing him to go through the pain twice when he was cut again. Johnny was basically cut because he spent too long by the pool in Vegas instead of working on his song. Maybe he had extenuating circumstances that have come to light?

Absolute rubbish if he didn't have to sing for the 42 down to 24 cut and gets an automatic pass. Me thinks some external lobbying from somewhere comes into play. Lot of heavy hitters in the US. Wouldn't be hard to call a producer and say 'top 24 for my boy or I withdraw support or call the network.

I really see no reason to add a 13th guy otherwise. I could think of a few 13th girls I would rather add.

i like Dave Matthews but i dont like his alter ego phil phillips

JERMAINE JONES 41.00
JOHNNY KEYSER 41.00
BRIELLE VON HUGEL 51.00
RICHIE LAW 101.00

Strange market because although i think both the top few peeps are good, i dont think one of them will win.
I think there is value there with Jeremy, Elise and Especially Reed, i think if i was having a bet i would definitely go for him, seems pretty likeable and should be a lock for top 12. A bit like Casey last year, but a bit more talented i reckon, and i was a Casey fan too.

Here's my deliberations on tonight's performances:

1. Joushua Ledet - You pulled me through - best performance of the night. What a great voice he has.
2. Creighton Fraker - True Colours - love how he gospelled it up. awesome performance.
3. Aaron Marcelleus - never can say goodbye - what a pro and a great voice. made for the big stage.
4. Reed Grimm - opened strongly. Love his jazzy style and he just oozes charisma on stage.
5. Colton Dixon - Decode - not familiar with the song but he seemed to perform it strongly
6. Jeremy Rosado - Gravity - a very nice crooning voice but I worry if he has the musical range to perform all the genres required on AI.

The bottom performers

7. Chase Likens - the song was one of those meh country up tempo songs.
8. Jermaine Jones - the second chance guy was boring
9. Phillip Phillips - disappointing performance. Anyone who performs that song should be automatically disqualified.
10. Adam Brock - boring performance. White chocolate is shit.
11. Heejun Han - wrong song choice didn't suit him at all.
12. Eban Frankewitz - sang flat
13. Deandre Brakensick - hated it except for the note at the end.

Your opinion should be null and void after saying what you said about Phil. Like the song or not, you can't say it wasn't a good performance. Be less subjective.

Brielle dominated Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay.

Agree about Eben, sounded terrible.

excuse me? music is all about being subjective  I can only go with what appealed to me.

Phils performance was sub par compared to what I have seen him do on the previous shows. Even the judges said that mate. Maybe you should get your the wax cleaned from your ears:rolleyes:
