A lot to smile about tonight. I am not getting carried away by the margin , but the pleasing improvements, point form below:

Lynch: he held his own on Rocca.

Doogs: Presented well.Thank God he is on our team.

Seaby: showed a lot of promise.

Johnson: What a lump of a lad great potential.

Nicoski: This kid looks like a raw talent of sizable talent.

However the greatest and most pleasing aspect of the game was the WORSFOLD like attack on the ball.

Looking Good.
Your comments Guys!!!!!!

i liked the young guy you had playing FF, to tall for wakes though. presti wouldve been better. but you played proberly the best preseason footy ive ever seen. just dont tire come round 15. wouldve liked it if we both had full strength teams in, more collingwood. top 6 are eagles.

Lynch surprised me in how well he played down back. I'd like to see how he goes against a quicker forward but he certainly did well against Rocca

Doogs did present well, and is in my mind 1st choice FF, but there were occasions where he wasnt on the lead where he seemed to get caught behind and not contest too well. Im sure it will get worked out though.

Seaby looked very good. Definitely AFL standard in the making. id expect him to get games on and off this year, depending on where Gardy plays, Cox's form and injurys. Cox did look good tonight too I thought.

Johnson is a lot more mobile than I expected, looked good up forward but it was his off the ball work I liked most. Plenty of great sheperds, and with a frame like his theyve got to hurt. Good team mentality.

Nicoski showed a bit, has he always had blonde hair? doesnt match my memories of the few times I saw him play for Subi.

You're young players certainly showed a lot more than ours tonight. McDougall, Seaby, Lynch etc. Big buggers too!.

Don't know where he sits with you guys, but it was good to see Chipper Adkins play a bit tonight. Wanna take back the Williams swap?...................Thought not!

Great summary of my thoughts. The best thing that I could also take away from that game is that our key position players look good enough for us not to need Carroll....

PS who is no 12 (I was at a friends birthday party and could not hear the commentary) he looked very good. Loved the look of Judd he seems to have grown a fair bit.

Happy Days!!!

The player formerly known as Kane 'flipping' Munro. After tonights decidedly un-unco performance I'm reconsidering his current moniker. :)

More performances like the one tonight would be nice. Even though Williams had a shocker tonight I'd re-swap players in an absolute flash.

On another note Chipper and Stick-Boy Munro have tried to look like Judd as much as possible, Stick-Boy even down to the shoulder strapping.

Is this a devious Woosha ploy to confuse the opposition into thinking we have 3 Chris Judd's?? :D

Ok well after watching him play in the last quarter I am prepared to concede that he may be of some use. Haiving said that by that stage the game was well and truely over and there was no real pressure out there. If he can do as well when the real stuff starts I will be happy to take back all the crap stuff I said about him!

That would be a nice scenario.

Although in fairness to Carroll, he wasnt too bad by his standards. That being said he has fairly low standards :)

It'd take more than tonight to shake that label I'd hope ;)

I should stop, reading back through my posts after a 105 pt win im starting to sund like some sort of uncool negative vibe merchant

I really was happy with tonights performance!

Yes you are even unfair on yourself :D ...after all you did give Carroll a wrap!

By the way I too thought he did play ok except for giving away a silly free kick that is.

Pedro: thanks for your comments. I will start with the positives.

Williams and Atkins are similar animals, neither were dominant with their previous clubs , but still showed somthing: The difference is that Williams took his chances with a club that had a solid on ball division ,where Adkinns took his chances on a team that valved pace. At this point in time Williams has the point slightly.

On the negatives: yes our big young guys looked far better than yours. The Clokes are big bodies who just play dumb football. But Malthouse has always placed greater merit on the small skillful on baller than a key position player . Dont interput this as as a super sledge but your greatest asset as a forward is Frazer!!! But you have got to get a second tier ruckman to cover him.

In, mho,if you do so you are well on the way : however your greatest challenge is to convince Malthouse that this is what you need!!!????

And getting a hair cut that makes his head look even ruder ;)

No complaints about that lot- the usual GBU and maybe a BOW will be up at some point tomorrow.

Just briefly though, I was absolutely ecstatic with Lynch's game- couldn't have been more different from the intraclub performances, and gave Rocca a bath.

Also very happy with Doogs, Nicoski, and Coxxy.

The Munny man showed why he was kept on the list. Outstanding game and I doubt that anyone could say a bad thing about any of the players tonight. Gardiner might find it hard to force his way back into the team. Cox has stepped up big time and Seaby looked as if he was at Coxs' level last year. Even Jaymie Graham looked good. I was dissappointed that Edwards didn't play but I guess we are holding him back.

On a bad note the umpiring was woeful at times.

Agree Lynch was a revelation if he can hold his own on Rocca: thats a great reference point.

Lets not get toooooooo carried away shall we? :)

Very pleased with the team's performance tonight (what eagles fan wouldn't be??!! :P). Again, can't get too carried away, but it's great to see that we are heading the right way so early on in the year. Each of the young players showed that they can play, so that's very encouraging. Very happy in particular with Lynch's game against Rocca, Doogs at FF and some exciting stuff from Seaby, Nicoski and Johnson.

Lots of positives tonight and good signs for things to come. Most already listed above...
One highlight that hasnt been mentioned yet... The bump by Embley on Williams... Loved it !!!

Seems like the collar bone's healed up well :)

****ing beautiful wasnt it? ;)

Was it just me, or did Embers seem to be playing a fair bit more down back tonight?

Experimentation by Woosha? Or a sign of things to come?

Personally I think if he can play off the wing like he did last year, he provides more of a link between defence and attack for us

Our midfield really took them to the cleaners tonight. I was just as excited about that as the tall guys standing up. The intensity, and as someone else said - the 'WOOSHA-like' attack on the ball - really stood out. A few other things not already mentioned...

Judd: Took some fantastic contested marks! Will be the complete package…

Sampi: Played superbly in defence, it was like having 2 Wirras back there…

Embley: Great bump and proved he can play in defence

Morrison: Didn’t look far off the Morrison of old, almost brought a tear to my eye…

Cuz: Looks like he is over his foot problems, quick and damaging, ran all night

Humm: Played well in the one-on-one situations

Much happiness for me.

Johnson and McDougall looked good up forward as long as Doogs doesn't have those yips too often. Lynch looked good at CHB, but he never had to play on someone with pace. Certainly earnt another pre-season chance though, and it would be great if he could come through in that position.

Though Nicoski looked OK out there and Graham certainly didn't look outclassed for a rookie list player; of course if you win by 105 points everyone looks good :).

I was also pretty happy with the efforts of Morrison, Munro and Adkins; I'd like to see them fighting for a place in the team all season, and if they continue to play like they did tonight they'll keep the pressure on for spots in the side. Got to be a good thing.

As previously mentioned, our talls looked fantastic. Best of all, of our best 22 missing, all were talls (Jako, Hunter, Glass, Gaspar, Gardiner). As long as we don't lose key players like 2003, we're a decent shot at top 4 and at the very least a finals win or two.

On a negative note, Humm confirmed he isn't up to AFL standard. His disposal is shocking, and his footy brain is on another planet (e.g. under pressure in defence, he kicks the ball across the face of goal straight into the arms of a pies player).
The haircuts were awful. Whats with the mullets coupled with undercuts?
