You didn't read Scott's comments monday? I guess you're another average Joe that rates players after looking at the Hun's stats after a game.

Ablett has been good this year.

Regardless of cash my point stands.
Been very good ????
Looking at stats ???
He’s a one way player , granted still a very good one but his willingness to work both ways has now fall off the cliff . If that’s exceptable in your eyes your easily pleased my friend .
And also delusional if you think Scott would say anything publicly other than what he said .

He's been terrific.

Rumour on theWest Afl podcast today that north have offered a 7 year deal.

It won't matter what we offer him if it's only about money.

He has to want to come back east.

If he's just holding out for coin, "Nizza" will work out all the brown paper bag perks required to keep him.

Two mega offers in as many weeks for North.

Player agents licking their lips at Norths interest in their players.

If DeGoey was offered $1m / 5 years, expect Gubby to increase the North offer to 1.2m / 7 in the coming weeks.

Also, the money being thrown at gaff is a tad overboard for me. Yes he is a good player but he is more of a link player and his disposal his probably above average at best...i dont think west coast have won too many games and the opposition have left and thought" bloody gaff was the difference today"

Too much money..not enough FA's

maybe true before this year, but has definitely gone up another level this year since he's had more time on ball. In fact i'm pretty sure GWS will be thinking about how Gaff's 41 disposal, 2 goal, 6 clearance game could have been the difference just a few days ago.

there have been a few games where he has been the difference this year

Whats your opinion on Gaff do you believe he will accept Norths offer ?
Would you like him at North ?
Would he suit norths game plan ?

I think the offer is pure WA speculation in truth. I'm yet to see any mention of it in Victoria (but then I don't read everything).

If it's legit though, I can only assume we've put a similar offer that we did to Dusty in the same FA position (probably not for the same coin, I'm surprised nothing was mentioned there).

If it's say 900k p.a over 7 I think it's a good offer by North and a thought provoker for Gaff and I think the bloke is worth it. If you recruit a guy at his age heading into his prime you want him for life.

He definitely suits the game plan, makes the game plan... it's pretty clear we have room for two mids at that money after our efforts last season and that would be a plan over this season and next adding those players into the middle. The forward line is very good and the back line is sound, I think any team where Ben Cunnington is the fourth best mid and main contested mid has a shot at a flag.

End of the day, we've got the money and we have to spend it. It's not a desperation thing but the club has to be mindful that juggling the books has to crash eventually. I'd be very concerned if we were losing our targets to other clubs... that they are all staying where they are shows how much the one club mentality is valued nowadays. I'm very confident come the end of 2019 we'll have the two high quality midfielders we're after, hopefully we can add one this season and focus on our drafting.

$900k wont be given any consideration at all by the Gaff camp to North, From what the Eagles supporters say the guy is already on around $750-$800k and with 2 other teams in StKida & Melbourne in love with him as well as the recent Hawks interest - North dont stand a chance

It will take a massive offer from North to get him over the line and to be perfectly honest he is not worth that and will not be the missing link, The reason this is probably done quietly is that North cannot keep making massive offers and missing out every time.

Every time a player knocks north back the brand just cops another hit and not only for the public but players also

Bear in mind the first words of my post were I thought it was just WA speculation. I don’t believe it is the case (and the 900k was my own speculation).

As far as the brand being damaged that seems to be a line of thought that matters only to opposition supporters. Nobody chooses a team because of their ability to lure players from their own clubs. And players aren’t rejecting us because of this... they’ve all had substantial pay increases to stay put.

The Saints and Carlton have been in for every target we’ve gone after for the last season or so and get mentioned with us all the way to the moment of contract re-signing but then once that happened it’s just North that missed out (I’ll exclude the later stages of the Dusty saga as it’s clear Dusty was only weighing up our offer). Take all the Kelly media, for months it was Saints and Carlton as front runners for him but when it was done it’s North that missed. The media loves blowing it up when the cashed up clubs go for it but I guess that we go closer to our targets means we get hung out a bit more. That just is what it is.

I'd say there's 3 main motivators.

Stars in their prime know they'll be well paid regardless so either choose loyalty to their club or join a club they perceive to be nearing success.
Good players, or good foot soldiers move to clubs that value them much higher than their current club (Mitch Robinson for example) where they'll get a nice pay day.
Average foot soldiers and plodders move to anyone that'll take them.

The best scenario to be in is to be a star in a shit side.
They have to hit 95% of the cap somehow (cripps).

I believe he also wants success that was coming out of WA at the end of last year regards Gaff. I dont think he expected the eagles to have a year like this, that may be blurring his thoughts a little.

Im pretty confident along with Lynch their the 2 key players moving this year back to VIC
