Mackie was a MAD Crows fan during the 90's and early 2000's. He was even in a piece of footage taken after the Crows 1997 or 98 GF (i cant find the footage though).

Do Crows fans think he will ever want to come home and play for Adelaide or do you think he will stay at the Cats?

I wouldn't give up too much for him. He is an average player who is made to look better than average becuase he is part of a sensational team. Take him out of this team and he would only be an average player.

I wouldn't give up a 1st round pick for him, however Didaks a different story.

He loves Geelong and won't leave if he's smart.

He's on the 1997 GF broadcast during the match when they crossed to the Crows Shed. He goes boonta about 5 times when Jarman wins it.

He would be a perfect replacement for Doughty, as he runs the lines a lot better than mick and is probably a little better in execution.

But I agree, I wouldn't give up to much for him, certainly not a round 1 pick, maybe a hopefull like Kite or Otten.

I went to school with him when I was a kid. Went to a few Crows games in the early 1990s with him and his dad. Sunday evening games. First game I went to was a Sunday night game vs Collingwood in 1992, we lost by 5 points. Amazing crowd noise!

Oh cmon guys he's a very very good player and would demand a high first rounder if not more. He was taken at pick 8 and has done very very well. Is very versatile- can play on both small and tall because he has excellent mobility for a tall guy. He's basically like Andy Otten. We don't really need him but if he wanted to go home I'd take him in heartbeat.

Everyone is hugely underrating him. He is a fantastic player who would be worth every cent. I would much rather him then didak or pavlich.
His game against Brisbane today was outstanding defensively.

Wow - some ridiculous replies on here. Mackie was a high first round pick and he's done everything Geelong could have hoped.

We really hope Otten will become the player Mackie is - but don't undervalue the worth of a tall, running, skillful player in the modern game. He's incredibly valuable.

Won't happen for a while, if it does happen. We already have Bock, Otten, Kite and Moran. Unlikely and low priority trade.

Pretty sure they recruited him as a great white hope for a forward and hes turned out as a 3rd tall/rebounding defender, so maybe not really exactly as a they had hoped....

One player in that mold i wouldnt mind is sam fisher from the saints, i remember we tried to trade for him when watts went home. Would of been a good get for us. Rutten + Bock and Fisher with johncock and macca thrown in is one decent back line.

That would be one of the best backlines in the AFL if that was to happen in the next few years

No. He is better than average. I'd love him in our team.

I wouldnt like to give up otten for him otten has proven so far that this year he has a huge up side i could see him being our next stevens a player that can be effective at both ends of the ground

Geez I hope not. I think out of all the young fellas this year Otten has been outstanding filling the role Bassett made his own. Made a couple of mistakes on the weekend but young fellas will do this.

Mackie is definitely a good player. I think you'll find that he would actually take a step up if you put him in a team with lesser players IMO.

Surely you're joking. You would prefer a mid-sized backman over a superstar key forward. You didn't have a say in the Matt Bode trade by any chance?
