Andrew Walker upset...

I think its great to see he has so much passion and desire to play for the team that his non-selection was such a disappointment.

Lappin in his preview on CFCtv indicated that Walker's disposal still needed some polish but he was running very well.

I took this to mean he wouldn't play, and with the 5 day break I doubt Tex was ever really high up in the mix.

But again, if every player reacted this way to selection or non-selection then we would have a very strong club.

I doubt Cain got very upset when he lost his spot after the Lions game.;)

Keep up the hard work Tex, you'll be back in soon enough. :thumbsu:

Agree BB.

This whole thing is a non-issue.

Imagine you do a whole pre-season and you're flying. Then you do a shoulder just before the season starts. While you're doing all your boring and difficult rehab after the recon. op you watch your side start to begin to win a few, more than the side ever has while you've been at the club.

You get yourself right to go, accept the fact that you've gotta come back thru the Bullants, but hear it said that you're a good chance to be right to go for the Saints game. You get thru 2 games in the Bullants and get in the best players. Then you get told THE DAY BEFORE the Saints game that one more week in the Bullants might be prudent. If you've got any sort of human emotion and drive and competitive instinct of course you're gonna be a bit pissed off.

Let's just remember that there's a chance that Brett Ratten and Justin Cordy and co might know a little bit more than a few BF posters about returning a player from injury.

To be honest I am not so sure. 2 months of training 2 full practice games is more than enough to warrant being ready... for godsake that is a mini preseason

......and yet Lappin was critical of his disposal in the preview this week......so if that's as good as his footskills are after a full pre-season the kid is in trouble.

We are in a rare position of being able to pick and choose when players come back in, and have them have to force their way back in. Yes, he was in the best players in the Ants. So he should have been, but the fact is his disposal (according to Lappin and the reports) hasn't been great.

Now, do we really want to go into tonights "must win" game, with Walker coming off a 5 day break and travel to Tassie, with disposal that's not 100%?

Another week won't kill him, and it may help us tonight in that he may not run out the game as well as we would like, and he may not hit the targets as well as we would like.

He will be told to work on his disposal and if he plays wel again then after 1 weeks break, he will be very close to coming in for the Swans game.

I dare say a couple of senior guys (Russ in particular) are on notice with AW's return.

Maybe not... we have 5 players in our side that are not yet and may never be AFL players... my friend Walker is one they are not

Walker was justifiably gutted - was told he would be back for this game, the press were told, we were told - he did what was required of him to return - and lets face it there is no question mark over his commitment and determination - Walker is one player who should be rewarded for his hard work and given every opportunity.

The idea to pull him from this game, in my opinion was disastrous and may well have consequences - he has been treated like garbage from the get go from Pagan and things don't seem to have improved now.

We missed him tonight and I for one would LOVE to have seen this guy come back and debut with Juddy. Makes me sick that this has happened.

Walker has played almost every game once cracking the team without exception and has shown why he deserves to be there - this wouldn't have happened to any other regular player and for mine is quite disgusting -

Ratts has fkd this one.

Can't solely blame Ratt's it was obviously a moronic corporate decision, we can all #### up at times.

CFC, discretely hire me for your consultancy and this will all be repaired  (After all isn't that what we all think?)

One more match with the Ants won't do him any harm. If he did in fact sulk off, then he needs to pull his head in and harden the f__k up. It's about what's in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club, not him! We cannot take an under-prepared player into such an important game.

I think the fact that he ripped off his strapping showed that he has a lot of desire and really wants to get back on the park. Yeah they think he is underdone but would he have been a worse option then browne or anderson? Very few have the work ethic down at carlton that this bloke has. I really think they should give him a go. His runnng ability is something that we really miss. Yeah he turns the ball over a bit but no more then carazzo or some of the other carlton midfielders.

Couldn't agree more, the likes of Fisher,Goddard & Gram will have have a field day against our uninspiring forward line.

I'm sure Russell has them quaking in their boots.

Good to see I wasn't wrong, the uninspiring forward was woeful.

Russell can't finish, Edwards has nothing, Fev was well held.

Eddie & Wiggo performed well.

Name the 5?
Anderson? Browne? Russell?.............

What I meant by that comment was not that we have the Cats depth, leaving a Prismall and Hawkins out of the team.

What I mean is that we have players out of the team in Walker, Pfeiffer, Austin, Blackwell, Hampson etc who have designs on being senior players.
We have started winning games.

We will no longer play a player like Carrazzo (read - Ellard) for 40 games before he shows something. We don't have to. Despite the guys above not dominating, they have all shown ability at times.

We had no choice in past years. We had to play these guys, and two years ago, Walker would have come straight back in.

We at least now have some depth. No question some of the guys in the team won't be there in the next few years, but at the moment they are doing a good enough job.

Walker would have made no difference last night, and given that off a 5 day break he would have run out of legs, and his disposal hasn't been great, we may well have fallen over earlier.

I hope Tex hits the target for the Ants on Sunday. He would then be right in line to replce Russell. 12 disposals with 41% efficiency..........wasted 7 of them..........not good enough.

Ratten said the man reason he didn't play was because of the 5 day break and interstate travel. Will definitely play next week. Be patient.

Why not give him one more week just to tighten up his disposal? In the grand scheme of things, it's not going to make that much difference. He certainly wouldn't have made any difference to the result last night.

will wait and see what his contribution is when he plays before I sign off on that one - I really felt that our biggest chance against the Saints was simply Walkers return - this kid has modelled his life on Judd - is almost a bit "bunny boiler " -ish.

Whats done is done - just thought Walker could be given a bit rather than always having to go the extra mile to prove himself - streuth we had players like Deluca as walk up starts -

And it appears guys like Russell are walk up starts

Walker must come in next week, regardless of his form today.

Walker will be in next week. The chance we have against the Swans is to expose them with run out of the middle.

Throw Walker straight in there with Judd and Gibbs.

He's not going anywhere. He was commonly touted as being the player most likely to have a breakout season this year until that shoulder popped again. If he stays fit and has the opportunity to hit some consistentcy he will be a major gun. Worth more to persist with than to trade.
