Carlton
I would personally hate to see this happen, particularly after perservering though his injuries. He is set to come into his prime over the next few tears. Carlton have idicated 'todays sun herald' that he will be traded for the right price.

Any thoughts on what is the right price. An attempted 'non Carlton bias view'. I would have him as a 5-10 pick. There could be alot of clubs in need of a quick midfielder/ flaner. Sydney, Collingwood, Hawks, Essendon to name a few

Thoughts?

pick 5-10 for an injury prone player who hasnt shown much?
second rounder at best

This. Just because he was a high draft pick, who has some promise doesn't mean his close is even close to what the OP is suggesting. There are surely better players than Walker available at pick 5. Lucky to get a second round pick.

You must be to busy watching Richmond try and play. You guys picked up Mcmahon with an early secong rounder.

The only query is his decision making, that looked fine to me when he was playing later this year.

He is only second to Judd in endurance

His value will not be commensurate with his talent or potential, because of his injury set backs. Therefore, we should not trade him.

His shoulder surgery last year was different to preceding procedures and it appear to have got it right. He withstood some heavy bumps and treatment in the last half of the year and is set for a good 2010.

I like the guy, his attitude and reckon that he will have a breakout year in 2010. He's lost two years to injury, was second to Cooney in the draft and Cooney's breakout year was 2008. Think about it.

Furthermore, Carlton lack pace, even with the addition of Judd and Joseph. We need Walks in the midfield.

Exactly, why trade him unless Carlton think he won't amount to much and are trying to get some value while they still can. A first round pick for him is almost laughable. He has good pace and skills but just has not done anything to warrant a no.2 pick.

I would have thought there is not alot of difference between the abilities of Walker and McLean. Both have had injury concerns and failed a bit to live up to early hype. They both clearly have have abilities that could indicate improvment if fully fit

He is not worth pick 5-10, which is why we will not trade him as he is worth more to us than what we would get in return. He won't be traded for that exact reason.

His trade value is probably an early second rounder at best due to injuries and performance shown thus far. Although I believe he is a better player than that and will show it in the next few years.

That might be right but I'd suggest most people think 11 is overpaying for McLean. Walker's worth more to Carlton because no one will give up more than a second rounder, unless one of the top teams thinks he can help extend their premiership window. So best case scenario is pick 15-17, which given his horrible injury history, you'd be lucky to get.

If McLean is worth 11 then Walker would be somewhere after that because of his constant injuries.

Doubt anyone will go near him, like Gumbleton

15-25.

Carlton would want 15, others would offer up to 25 I reckon.

Good to get your thoughts. Concensus is that Carltno will not get there value for him, so he wont be traded

From a North perspective, let me try put Walkers value into context for you. One Question:

What would you give for Jesse Smith?

There's your answer.

 HAHAHAHAHA, poor unbaised view attempt, his shoulder pops out every 3 minutes, 2nd round pick at best :)

I am a big supporter of Walker as a Footballer, and believe next year he will have a breakout season. Carlton would be crazy to trade him. At present probably a 12-18 pick
