Why would he be playing in the ressies if he's injured?

...euphemism for resting perhaps?!?!...:p:D...

...your right...but can anyone else confirm that graham is carrying an injury?!?...

...probably explain his poor showing against the doggies if that were to be the case...

After Browne's brilliant effort against the Dons and Gus' terrible game at Coburg, it will be tough for Gus to get his spot back any time soon.

Lol, brilliant effort of a equally brilliant 13% hitout eff, and one measly kick. 13 handballs and half to a team mate under pressure. Yep, brilliant game. Hope he keeps these brilliant stats up for the rest of the year.

Yep, i was starting to think I was at the wrong game, with the plaudits for Browne. The one that surprised me was Dimma going ape shit, but i can also understand he would be pumping up the young kid for toiling hard and giving his all. But to suggest he looked anything other than a standard issue, out of his depth footballer is bordering on BS to the max.
Alot here suggest, yeah but he is unco and things will change, but IMO he looked like max unco, i.e. NFI. We will never learn will we? We opt for NFI to replace someone that has been run into the ground that has some idea and because the NFI option tried hard, we think we have ourselves a ruckman. Give it up tigerheads...If it aint Gus then it might be DX. If that doesnt cut it, then we recruit ourselves a readymade ruckman.

FFS, there was a boundary throw in that Axel had to go up for in the ruck.....;)

Ill give Browne at least 2 ticks. Even though he made some bad decisions handballing to team mates under pressure, he has exceptionally slick hands for someone so uncoordinated. It would explain why he doesn’t kick I suppose. But the hands are very, very good.

2nd, was his best highlight for the game when halfway into the last quarter he ran 25-30 meters to a contest (a bomber kick to their HF flank) and Browne came in like a train and smashed the ball so hard over the boundry it went flat… lol. Classic.

As I have said before, I rate Gus 10 times better, but still hope Browne gets at least another 3 games.

It was a brilliant game for a 20 year old ruckman off the rookie list playing his 6th game.
The kid gave everything he had out on the G Saturday night and with more AFL level match fitness and more experience he will be worth the wait. His game was much more than Gus ever offered at the same age and experience.

this thread has become so funny with all the gus lovers twisting and turning all over the place.
its simple browne contested at every opportunity and got himself in the right places to make a nuicance of himself.
his raw stats are as good as anything graham has dished up this yr and he did it with intensity. no wonder hardwick was over the moon with him. the way they both go about it is chalk and cheese.

so funny here we have a 20 yr old who has statistically given us as much as graham and played with 10 times more intensity yet people bag him because they cant admit graham has been poo. a 24 yr old graham for that matter. sheesh if browne can perform better at 20 what will he do at 24.

to be fair i think both are limited and we need to find something a bit better than both but at least with browne you are guaranteed a contest at every opportunity.
for what its worth i thought hille the best big man on the ground.

Its also funny watching the leader of the anti Graham brigade pump up Brownes performance. Even funnier is watching someone who regularly says that statistics mean bugger all when it comes to discussing a players performance is quite keen to use them to claim that Browne did just as well in 1 game as Gus had done in the previous 8 weeks. What I also find funny is how one minute you want us to discuss how well Browne could be as a 24 year old and then in the next sentence say that both him and Gus are limited and that we need to find something a bit better. Either Browne looks good or he doesn't.

I'm not the one twisting and turning Claws, despite the fact that he won bugger all hitouts to advantage, commited 6 clangers to go with 24 hitouts 1 kick & 14 handballs 4 tackles and 1 clearance for the night, you broke your self imposed ban on posting on here to come on and say he was much better than anything Gus could put up.

BTW didn't you say sometime ago that talls needed a good 3-4 years in the system before you can make calls on them, yet here we are 7 games into Brownes career and you're already saying that he needs to be replaced or was it that you can't wait until he is 24. I can't quite tell given you have jumped from one viewpoint to the other in the space of 2 sentences.

BTW haven't you repeatedly said in the last couple of weeks that you won't be posting here anymore and yet you continually return, but I guess thats not twisting and turning either.

Give it a rest RT. Your posts usually make a lot of sense, but on the Graham debate you are letting your bias get the better of you, to the point you are becoming illogical. Hardwick has already made his statement on Gus by dropping him. Time to move on and embrace the change.

Not at all, when Graham was dropped for Browne last week I was pleased for the kid to be getting a go and have said I've got no problem in giving him a decent crack at it to see what he can do at this level.

Was hoping big Gus would have come through, but I think it is over for him now. Got slaughtered by a novice at VFL level. You can’t have a ruckman your team who doesn’t want to go up for the tap at the centre bounce (as highlighted by Robert Walls on one week at a time). You just get the impression he doesn’t want to play in the ruck, and he ain’t gunna make it in any other position. I know he has a good fitness base and runs around a lot to create an option, but if you don’t want to go up for the ruck contest this feature becomes null and void.

Pity because it will mean we will have to give up at least a 2nd round pick in the next few years to pick up a half decent ruckman.

Wish Gus better luck in his next career choice.

Hes at the crossroads of his carreer now he better grow a heart and fire up or the game will pass him by.

Sub Browne:D

But seriously folks,
Big Andrew is nowhere near fit enough to run out a game.
He was like the straw man in the last quarter.
I thought he was going to have a cardiac arrest.

Sadly and while i still support Gus,our ruck dept is,at the core, poor.

Hardly unexpected for a kid in his 6th game of AFL playing his first game of the year at this level. Then take into account his workload against 3 ruckmen with more AFL experience than him in Hille, Ryder & Bellchambers and I think he can be forgiven for being stuffed.

We need to play him more at this level so his fitness will get to the required level, only experience will get him there.

Myth.... Why do people keep on insisting this happened? Browne hardly rucked against Hille, in fact Hille hardly rucked all game, Browne occasionally went body on body when he went back deep, but it was only Bellchambers and Ryder that mostly rucked with a combined 47 out of a team total of 54 - Hille had only 7 hitouts, and only 4 of those were against Browne.... busted

:)HERE’S the only stat worth considering. With ‘Gus’ the previous week frightened to jump at centre bounces and poor around the ground we were pummeled by an ordinary, ordinary team that was humiliated by West Coast on the weekend.
With Browne having a red-hot crack, we beat a potential top four team.
Browne’s efforts made his teammates walk taller!
END OF STORY!

From the Richmond website...

Star Richmond midfielder Trent Cotchin has praised the performance of the Tigers’ new No. 1 ruckman, Andrew Browne, in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G’ Blockbuster.

Ouch, how does this make Angus Graham feel??

That should fire him up just like getting dropped should have, but it didnt ,he was apparantly pathetic in the vfl too ,he just may well take his bat and ball and go home and hav a sook to mummy.I had high hopes gus was going to improve this year not go backwards , very disappointing so far.
