If he is playing for Box Hill, which is practically Hawthorn Reserves you can bet a deal will be done between Adelaide and Hawthorn. Angwin won't go back to Adelaide.. so the only way Adelaide can get something for him would be a trade or draft pick. Hawks have the bargaining power here, probably 3rd round draft pick.

You can take the boy out of Hawthorn but........

maybe "You can take the boy out if victoria [or any state really]but....."

Getting a trade at all is the key - but I guess they just won't delist him. Be Rutten seems as though he can be a likely replacement next year!

What if he doesnt want to play for Hawthorn...or Hawthorn dont want him?

He is a Hawks boy through and through, grew up at Glenferrie and grandfather has been a property steward for 60 odd years.
Another club could obviously offer a better trade or draft pick then that has to be matched by Hawks IF they want him.
Of course if Hawks don't want him then no trade will be done.. duh.

I vote we just delist him and get on with our lives. He's obviously not coming back so why should we waste anymore money on him, when we've got good, willing talent sat on our rookie list waiting to get a proper senior game!

I agree with Blues_girl, get rid of the phsyco and give a years AFL experience to a kid who's done absolutely nothing wrong in Rutten.

If Angwin wishes to join the Hawks next year, I would keep him on the list, as we should be able to get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. If he has no intention of playing AFL, delist him immediately.

If i was Hawthorn i wouldnt offer anything....then he will go into the draft where hawthorn would probably pretty easily be able to pick him up in the draft instead of wasting a player/pick on him

Does he know what he wants to do??

cut our losses

I have had enough of this guy! Lets cut our losses and delist him. He won't ever come back to the Crows and I don't think we would get anything for him in trades with Hawthorn or anyone for that matter. A young boy by the name of Rutten is itching to play on the senior list, lets get him on board!

I have only seen the tape of the Brisbane game so far this preseason, so I can't really comment, but how good has Rutten been?
From what I have read and seen, he seems like a good prospect for the future, but IF he was promoted to the senior squad would he make the starting 22? (Ahead of Stevens, Fitzy, Perrie, Hewitt).

If he wouldn't be in the best 22 at the moment, there is not much point putting him on the senior list, and he might as well continue his development on the rookie list.

Anyhow I can't really comment. Hopefully he would force his way into the 22.

Just a pity the Crows weren't aware of the situation last year. We could have done a 3-way Croad / Pavlich / Angwin trade (with draft picks).
You could've called it the Croad Anguish trade :D

Stevo is always #1 pick

Stevo for Club Champion in 2002

please don't compare Stevo to Hewitt, Perrie & Fitzy. Stevo is a lot better then them and is a very important part of our side! Hewitt and Perrie are "fringe" players to say the least and Fitzy hasn't played a game yet! Stevo is a legend and will always be picked ahead of those guys!

Ben Rutten has been terrific and for a kid of 18 he is going to be a real find for us. My point is Angwin does not want to play for us....end of story. Ben Rutten does, so let him play!

Go you Crows!!!!!!

So whats the story Macca?
When the year ends isnt he still contracted to Adelaide?

Can we claim damages for Pain and Suffering?

:D

must trade

We must try & get what ever we can from a bad situation, from day one there were warning signals concerning young angwin, why didn't the crows attempt some sort of trade last year ? now we are fair game for the hawks or any other vic club that shows any interest , the worst thing about all this is that angwin can actually play the game it's just that his brain is a little messed up.

Angwin on %AA tonight

Stevo for Club Champion in 2002

Anybody else hear Laurence on 5AA tonight? An interesting interview I have to say. He is about to under go some shoulder surgery this week and hopes to play for the Box Hill Hawks about round 9. He said that if he gets back into his footy and enjoys it and has a good year then he will probably want to stary in Victoria. He didn't rule out coming back to the Crows, he just said he would see how he feels at the end of the year. He praised the AFC and said they did everything they could to keep him here. He said he made some off field mistakes and said that it was a huge move for him (he lived with his parents prior and he was "a 17 year old kid, not a 17 year old man" but he realises it is all in his own hands now). Interesting to see how this all turns out!

Yes, I heard the interview...it looks like he's enjoying it back in Melbourne, let's hope he plays some good footy and stays there on a permanent basis (I was a bit concerned when he said he might consider coming back  )

Call me cynical, but I didn't buy any of his excuses.

I don't think we want him but Hawthorn might

I agree, I wouldn't want him back, I don't think is heart would be really in it, Hawthorn may be interested so it may pay to keep him on the list till the end of the year.

So what do we do with Laurence Angwin? [not sure if this has been discussed before?]

Just a pity the Crows weren't aware of the situation last year. We could have done a 3-way Croad / Pavlich / Angwin trade (with draft picks).

What exactly did we get for Angwin?

I was a bit young to remember.
