Im at a loss with this one.
Impressed with the first half 👏. Pre game, I didn't give us any chance... but the game was evenly poised. Looked to be shaping up to a close knit affair. Proud of the boys for that half, I'll give them that

3Rd quarter and Collingwood started to show their dominance and we didn't have answers. But hey, we were still in the contest scoreboard wise.

Less said about that 4th quarter the better.
For a team that had so many front line players, they cut through us like a hot knife through butter.

It's another game (of many) that we just seem to turn off, heads drop and we can't turn the momentum around. Are we physically not fit enough? Or is it purely mental?

That also may have been the worst use of a sub AFL wide this season. Wtf was the rationale for Maley of all players being subbed off?

Fuming after that last quarter.. men against boys stuff.

You have to wonder why a bloke that has coached 4 premierships thought taking off the one bloke that was bringing the ball to ground in your forward half was a good move?

****ing Forrest Gump incarnate.

Tom Hanks Dipshit GIF

Their midfield was missing De Goey, Pendlebury and Sidebottom
Ours was smacked by 2024 mid season draft pick Ned Long, half a game from Nick Daicos and one quarter from Crisp
And dont forget Hill also...

Didn't feel anything, because I don't trust them as far as I can throw them and probably never will again. Never, ever, falling for the corner turned shit. If we ever do turn it, I'll stay numb; that'll be grand.

Midfield diabolical. Some LDU/Powell efforts at 'tackling' were spectacularly shit. Midfield setup was absurd during the last quarter. Multiple times they had a free on their defensive side of the stoppage without a player of ours within cooee, and lo and behold, he received first use and off they went. If Patch can't identify basic shit like that, he needs to **** off pronto.

Darling the only one who leads. Felt his frustration from the third tier.

Our forward line would make a nursery collection of statues look mobile. Absurdly still. Even moving into a space and gathering momentum would give us something to kick to ffs. Do not want to hear from anyone that Larkey is a victim or unfairly criticised or anything. He's a shitcampaigner. Number one key forward who doesn't lead despite knowing he's a rubbish contested mark. Absolutely having a ****ing laugh. I bet Frampton enjoyed his lack of movement.

Umps had some howlers but we got away with a few. Non-factor bar the six or seven ruck contests where X was man-handled. Even then, most of the man-handling came before the last quarter and didn't overly affect things.

Looked gassed during the third. Suggests we are still not fit enough. Something quite telling on the final siren was that there was maybe one Collingwood player on his haunches. We had about ten. And they looked tired, rather than simply dejected.

Stephens got a lot of the pill but everything will be overshadowed by that messianic pants-shitting moment. Genuinely the most incomprehensible kick I've ever seen at a football game.

Sheezel just looks and plays like a player in a North guernsey now rather than a North star.

Three talls set-up didn't work. Finnbar needs to get stronger through the upper body. If he was able to handball whilst being tackled, we'd have had an extra four shots on goal.

Legitimately cannot think of a standout player. LMac was ok. Daniel was genuinely good for three 2.75 quarters. Comben was ok. Darling tried. Hardeman had a ton of ball but often just ****ing hoisted it inside 50. Not all his fault given the jaw-dropping immobility of our forward line but still, it doesn't mean he was awesome.

Collingwood played some ****ing great footy in that second half. Definitely a team that's more than the sum of its parts. They can plug in first/second/third year players in important positions and still look competent. We are the polar opposite.

We've reversed the trend of being shit everywhere but Marvel. Now we're ok everywhere but Marvel. Not a huge fan of that change.

Onto the WA trip, which I've somehow booked tickets and accommodation for. Brilliant.

George would get in there for them.. I was dumbfounded. At least get in there and not be pushed around or bullied. Ive seen campaigners run 150 metres to make a stand. Pathetic

If Maley gets dropped after the bye then shut the doors on the joint.

This coaching group aren’t serious if they don’t see that they finally have a bloke that can crash packs and trouble defenders in the air.
0 contested marks, 1 point. But yeah the big fella “crashed some packs”. He didn’t trouble anyone.

Just got home from that absolute disgrace of a last quarter, Thanks for your services Luke McDonald and Aidan Corr, now **** off.

Absolutely loved Stiffy Hardeman’s game. That young lad belongs at the level.

Get me a key forward, get me a defensive mid, get me some more pace on both flanks. There’s plenty of good signs but the deficiencies are dreadful and undo everything.
I've just got home and I agree, except that I have to add #5, Caleb Daniel and also while we're at it, #16, Fisher to your send off list. I don't know what Fisher brings to the side. I think that Daniel is extremely detrimental to the side, especially because its as obvious as the nose on George Wardlaw's face that the the entire backline has been instructed to utilise him as the exit or distributor. And firstly, that is so bloody predictable it's not funny, while secondly, he's not nearly good enough to be the focal point. Aside from the fact we capitulated in the second half, I'm absolutely certain that if Daniel wasn't in the team we'd have done better. I had the thought at least a couple of times tonight (and last week as well) that Sheez, even LMac and Chom had better options, but they propped then passed to Daniel and we instantly lost the ascendancy in most cases with his half distance loopers, even when they hit a target.

And the elephant in the room: LDU

LDU. What's the answer? There will probably be some stats that suggest he is having a positive impact but to me, well, to me he looks all out of sorts. It's as if he wants to do great things but he either over-runs the ball, gets pounced on, gets pounced on by two opponents, fumbles or misses the target by hand or by foot.

Watch the game. He brought the ball to ground in most contest and Howe was a non event when Maley was on the ground.

That last quarter was horrible to watch, it seemed like we dropped our bundle all across the ground, but especially led by our midfield.

But green shoots:

Zurhaar backing up his good performances
Curtis picking up where he left off
Pink defying all expectations as a DFA
Moments of clinical brilliance by the captain in the forward half
Wardlaw makes everyone else jealous they don’t have one
Xerri ran out of gas in the fourth, but played like the indisputable AA ruck for the first half
All our players deserve noble peace prizes for restraining themselves from KOing the umpires after their 20th dubious call.

Yes he did, and there went our resistance, with him. We need someone - Teakle, Goad, it doesn't matter - to come in and rest forward while X is having a spell on the bench. Darling isn't getting it done. I'd go with Goad, actually.

Let's see how he goes tomorrow (today?) in the VFL.

I want to see what is on the Blurred Circle that was in the Whiteboard in last weeks Coaches post game video

That is what will hold us into the future

Whatever is in the Blurred Circle
You know what?

I think whatever we saw is what the players saw.

A blurred circle.

And they played like that in the second half.

It's the same issue as always. The midfield gets lazy and then it comes in to our defence too easily and we get destroyed...and people blame the defenders. I will say this time though.....Corr was actually awful.

All I saw for the most part in the 2nd half was mids plodding along ball watching as I watched Pies mids just run end to end. Part of it was giving up at some point and part of it was being lazy.

I said in round 3 something is up with Sheezel. Totally different player and he is one doing the above.

I get tired of seeing people not chasing.

I don't know why Maley was taken off if he was fit as taking him out took out what was working for us at CHF and deep in the fwd line...always providing a marking contest and looked dangerous. That was a stupid move if he was fit subbing him.

Last word....thank F we have Xerri in the ruck or we would be a hell of a lot worse for our midfield. Hell....if he wasn't there maybe our midfield would actually pull their finger out.

The umpiring definitely was horrendous and very frustrating. Mind you there were plenty of garbage decisions we got or they didn't get too but nowhere near in comparison to how it was for them. We got r*ped...ultimately not why we lost but it didnt help.
