Re: New Spec Mod

Cheers fellas. Board has been running pretty smoothly lately I feel but if anyone has any suggestions as to how they think we could improve it, feel free to put them forward. I actually may create a thread dedicated to potential improvements to the board and sticky it for easy access.

Re: New Spec Mod

I'd say there would probably need to be a thread purely dedicated to news etc rather than a number of individual threads.

Someone should employ me as a lobbyist IIRC I was the first to nominate you Cruiser haha. :thumbsu:. Good luck mate.

Re: New Spec Mod

There is an Introduction to Road Cycling Thread coming very soon. Most of the regulars would already know most of what i've written, it's mainly for the newcomers and people who want to understand more about how the sport works. Once i put the post up, feel free to ask question which i'm sure someone can answer. I'm sure i've left out a bit so i can continually add stuff into the summary and even change things. Remember there are now silly questions, feel free to go for your life.

Cadel 2011 Tour de France Winner, fantastic achievement...

Thanks to Freakie for his great thread starters throughout the Tour.

This is the end of the Tour but remember this isn't the end of the Cycling Season. There are a few day races and the Tour of Poland still to come before the 3rd and final Grand Tour, The Vuelta a Espana which starts in less than a month. Hope to have plenty of you followers of the Tour de France joining in the discussion.

Only have 2 competition distance runs left in my season and will then start tri training so may hang around for advice
Thanks to all-made it all the more enjoyable

it is marathon season
looks like I am doing city to surf Perth marathon instead of Melb. Left calf is not coming up after Perth marathon and have strength/endurance but no speed. The hills of King's park will suit me better. Doing advanced SPIN classes at the moment meat and potato trainer work to try to get these legs up and about and work not giving me options. Have not even started swim program and that is my weakness.Frustrated as the wife is smashing me

Not sure what age bracket yuo fall into, BG, but if you're in that mid - late thirty bracket, i'd really recommend mixing your training with yoga (particurly bikram - there's a centre in Perth and must say the instructor is a stunner, saw her in Melb a couple of years back. 2 or 3 times a week if possible). Gets the blood flowing really well to "flush out" the system, and stretches those areas which can firm up in the repetitive movements of cycling & running.

Also worth trying some leg stretching from Hartha Yoga, ie. stretching the leg straight accompanied with hip rotations, but holding the leg in a sustained position for a period of time.

Was having a few back / right leg problems with cycling a couple of years back and basically couldn't do distance anymore. Now "mix it" with yoga and am cycling & running a lot better and in far more comfort

ayahuasca also relieves the pain ...

am tempted to jump on the Newtons again and either make ir break the calf. It actually only hurts on short runs say less than 15kms. I am also doing more interval work on treadmills with the weather and I was told that would help but as I am a pose runner I am finding it flares it up. Tomorrow is 22km of hill climbs in the wet so come this time tomorrow I may have quit fitness altogether.
