I rarely have a problem dealing with our external customers, they're usually pretty cool. It's the so called 'internal' customers that give me the ****s, dealing with people from other sections who seem to think you're there to serve them and only them. Last night I was working through my break to help out this bloke and he started giving me grief about something someone else did (he even saw the other person do it but decided to smart mouth me) so I said 'catch ya' and went on my break.

You are either a very regular customer or pretty predictable in what you order as a regular customer
Better change your habits or better still order a bag full of delights from the bakery and when shes finished packing them and rings up the tab say...

yeah, i work at a petrol station at the moment and 99% of the customers are teriffic. a lot of them are regulars and will initiate a conversation out of their free will.
but for me, there always seems to be the 1 or 2 customers a shift that **** up my day. it's incredible how many people think some uni student is respoinsible for the global fluctuation of oil prices, and recently I have been copping gobfuls from certain customers coz the petrol is too expensive for them. "what a ****ing outrage.. highway robbery, expecting us to pay $1 a litre, when are you going to bring the bloody price down..." and sh*te like that.
hey.. if you dont like it, ride a bloody pushbike, looks like you need it too....
you can normally pick the people who will be rude before they walk in. usually old and bitter looking, obviously something seriously lacking in their life.
but its not too bad overall. on friday nights the pizza store next to us does roaring trade and i sometimes get lovely people offering me a piece
. makes it all worthwhile.When your petrol station is advertised at 10 cents more than your competetors directly opposite the consumers have every right to let loose at your manager or whoever decides that price.
again, another idiot who thinks she knows it all, so thinks she has the right to fly off the handle. its not even the manager who decides the price, nor is there EVER a 10c variation from those across the street. and even if they were, why arent they going to the one across the road?

Hate to tell ya but in perth at the moment there are some servos selling petrol 10c a litre & more cheaper than other servos.

yeah there is always 1 or 2 customers that will easily ruin the rest of your shift, whether it be from complaining about prices or the fact that their vouchers are expired or just simply they are not happy with the service. then there is the customers that ask for a burger without pickles, they are the most annoying customers ever especially if it is hell busy and we get every second car ordering just one cheeseburger with out pickles then they dont bother parking to wait for their burger then the guyz out the back have to stop making other burgers that are being waited on just to get this burger made so that drive through doesnt get packed, fair enough if the customer is allergic to pickles, but if the customer just doesnt want a pickle in their burger its ****en annoying its so easy to just pick the pickle out and then these customers complain that they have to wait for their burger.

Another idiot am i, for knowing more about the industry that you supposedly work in.
I also have to deal with difficult people in my job and let me tell you when i ring service stations i come across knowitall little bastards too. Works both ways, its not always the customers!
That doesn't work I have tried it the flavour from the pickle goes through the whole burger making it disgusting.

Sorry but it must be the manager otherwise how come some stations sell there petrol heaps cheaper than others, they all buy it for the same price.
could be one of two reasons...
it is around the time when prices rise, and some servos will get the call earlier than others, so one will be on the lower price for a while and the other has already changed the boards
second, it could be that they are selling different types of fuel, one probably being laced with ethanol.
PS: wouldnt the one going for 10c more have absolutely no customers?
yeah i spose i dont have that problem myself i recon the pickles add flavour to the burger, but it is still annoying when it is extremely busy and we have to make special burgers for every second car or customer
again, no idea so dont claim that you must be right.
the oil companies sell the fuel to every servo at a given price (lets say $1 a litre). the servo i work at, and i guess most others, make 2.9c per litre margin, thus will sell it for $102.9
the manager's job is to then negotiate with the oil company to SUBSIDISE the fuel. if the one across the road is selling at $101.9, then they ring up the oil company and ask for a 1c per litre subsidy to be paid coz they are losing customers whilst the other servo has the lower price. they either reject it or give the subsidy. if they reject it, the price stays at $102.9, if they accept it sells for $101.9
sometimes the manager rings up and asks for a subsidy even if the one across the road is the same price, basically to attract more customers. the service stations themselves only ever make 2.9c per litre profit on fuel

they do not all buy it for the same price. every major company has their own refinery. sure they probably buy crude oil for the same price, but there are heaps of factors as to why one refinery might have more costs in producing their petrol.
Nup you are wrong everday in Perth they give out the servos who are selling cheap petrol, they have found that most servos here hav a lot of ethanol in the petrol they are trying to stamp it our even ones that charge heaps are using it.
The servos charging more are pretty much deserted only time I go to them is if it will cost me more to drive to a cheap servo than fill up at an exspensive one.

Its the pricing i am refering to. Any petrol station worker would be stupid if they stayed inside their little room without actually peeking across the road to see Joe Blows prices. Go work at Maccas they employ your type there!
So how dou you explain one BP selling it cheaper than others same as Caltex etc. I would think that all one bramd of station would have to pay the same, seeing they are getting there petrol from the same source.
tip: the only ones selling it with ethanol are the dodgy independent ones..
they give out the price watch here in sydney too. of course western suburbs prices will differ from those on the northern beaches. i dont really know the economics of why, but its a lot easier to get tankers out west than it is on the beaches.
basically spidey said that they differ when they are opposite each other by 10 cents. this is not the case unless it is for one of the reasons i said
