Rather large media contingent watching training this morning. At first I thought our local recruit, young Ibbo, would have to be feeling pretty "shpeshul" to be the object of such media attention... but no I didn't spot him. But I did spot another newcomer, standing in close pow-wow with CC in the middle of Freo Oval. Seems Harvs started his new job today - and let me just say that purple suits him.

You always have to be making citizen arrests for the fashion police don't you purps :)

And he was very impressed. He's obviously taken a critical eye over our bunch, and under that intense media glare provided a completely fair and unbiased assessment.

"Harvey likes what he sees in Fremantle"

When I saw the headline I assumed he was talking about IP. ;)

whats not to like in Fremantle?

The best pubs, fish and chips, clubs, harbour, beaches, football clubs in Australia.

Harvey was real chummy with Hardie on 6PR tonight. If he was ever coach I would like to see how he treats him cause they seem like good mates

Calm before the storm.

I was never a fan of his, but in the media he has been shown to call a spade a spade. He is not scared to be "non politically correct".

He appeared a little tounge tied the box last night (ch10). Which is understandable. He is probably bemused by the attention he is generating as an assistant coach.

IMO he doesnt need to reinvent the wheel for Fremantle to have a better win loss ratio.

The back page or todays West Australian had him saying "Three steps kick" during trainig yesterday then having players retrieve their own bad kicks. Nothing new there I know.

I'm some one who gets frustrated by players that dont take the 1st option or miss easy targets by poor disposal. If he can make a some difference it that area then he starts to earn his money.

Looking forward to hear him say "We" and "Us" when talking about 'our' club. Putting on the purple is great step but it might take a while before his blood changes colour.

He made an interesting point last night when asked by FoolHardy whether Freo was tough enough. He said he was going to teach them what to do when confronted with certain circumstances.

I took this to mean that he knows Freo has a specific weakness, and he knows how to correct it. If he can stop those 15 minute disappearing acts where we don't touch the pill this will make a HUGE difference.

He also said he's going to take a much more physical and aggressive approach with the younger players to see what they're made of -- which is an expansion of what's in the paper.

I don't think harvey is any great wordsmith, connolly can do that. harvey will get a lot of docker players out of the confort zone there in. a think a few will go kicking and screaming. too bad.

Harvey "breathe of fresh air" or just Harvey fresh!!

Right on the money WHTP!! will sort the boys from the men. If it takes a few tears to toughen them up, remove their digits and focus their minds on their job then so be it.

Yep I hope he stirs up a hornets nest, by getting into quite a few players ears.

As said by Ralph, if he can help get the players not having their lapses and help improve the team by 5% that is great. I look at it as a 12 point turn around, instead of your opponent having the ball, you grab it and go forward. How many games are decided by less than 12 points?.

I like CC but looking at the pic of the two of them in todays Worst,

CC has baggy shorts on and Harvey tight, no-nonsense shorts. First impressions are dangerous but CC looks like a soft matey marshmallow. Harvey is dressed for business out to knock heads and put the wind-up.

The fashion polices job has already been filled by IP.

You will be a Freo member in no time Sandy:p

No, I will bide my time until he comes back home, purple looks terrible on him. You can take the boy out of Essendon, but you can't take Essendon out of the boy. ;)

OI, there's nothing wrong with that, piercing blue eyes, rugged good looks

I said the same thing the last time I caught a blue manna crab. :)

One thing with Harvey and the respect Bomber supporters have for him, it might swing a few of your mob toward having a soft spot for us.

I've always had a soft spot for them, because of the ties with the Bombers. Remember when you first started & we had the Thurgood trophy, the little cannon? Also because of "Budgie" & Daniher, really you guys are a little extension of the Bombers, except in purple.
