Overall Cloke was the better player. We also have to remember they played in different eras. Cloke would have been even more dominant in the early 2000s. The game has got harder and harder for power key forwards. Rocca, exactly as he was, would struggle to get a game in the current era.

For talent Rocca may have even been better, but often not fit enough. As a mark, Cloke has him beat for sure, just a shame for him that he had to play in an era where he had to compete against a team of defenders.

It's a hard year to judge given what happened with Millane and the emotion of the year. The players were stuffed by the end of the year. I recall after that that we had significant injuries to older players who then started retiring. That was the beginning of the end but tat side was as good as WCE who won it.
I always felt that if they won that 1st week they would go through and win the lot in the end, they won all the close matches that year.St Kilda had the week off before that final and it freshened them up(it was the days of uneven numbers and the bye) unfortunately.

I think we finished 3rd and only % off top yet we didn't have the double chance.

I feel like the poll should be called: Who was the worst kick for goal :footy:

I reckon Anthony Rocca at his absolute best in 2003 was better than Travis Cloke. But Cloke probably had the better career overall.
Rocca really was a barometer when at his best. If he dominated, we generally won. Cloke didn’t have that same aura/influence but his best was also quite unstoppable.

Rocca for me but Cloke had some pretty awesome moments but never kicked bags, plus Rocca could be trusted in front of the goals.

We seriously talking about Sav? He kicked over 500 goals for us. That’s a pretty reliable player.

It is a bloody lot of goals, but he was very binge or bust. He had some days where he was unstoppable - multiple bags of 10 goals, but then he had some days where he looked awful.
