i would love to start a business up but have no idea on what to do. I have a a little saved up but dunno what to do. Any websites or places to suggest visiting? Or any ideas on a business?

What you need to do is provide a product at a selling price above the cost of producing and marketing it. Then find a way to produce lots and lots of it without your physical presence. Then go on a very long holiday.

Excuse the sarcasm. :D

What is your background and what skills do you have?
Echo that. You can make any business work if you have the right combination of drive/knowledge/skills. Even if you were a labourer, why not start a labour hire company? I would also recommend do a neis course, that will give you your practical knowledge on how a business is structured and whether your idea will work, whether the market is big enough etc. As far as finding a suitable home for your business, you can either run it from home or you could move into a business incubator, they offer incredibly cheap facilities. Just remember these things, surround yourself with good people, charge the right amounts (don't undercut for the sake of getting work), reinvest as much profit as humanly possible and pay your bills on time. And work your arse off. Do all this and success is assurred.

Absolutely and make sure you have the proper insurances. Public Liability, Professional Indemnity (if required) and Workers Comp (if you are employing people).

Try this site .. which has a link to here

This section provides information for those who have developed a new idea and need to make a decision about whether to start a business with that idea, or to sell, license, or franchise the idea.

ARE YOU BUSINESS READY?
The first thing to remember is to keep your idea confidential. Don’t tell anyone unless you’re prepared to risk someone profiting from your idea and setting up in competition against you. More..

PATENT PROTECTION
IP Australia grants patents after the examination of a patent application. A patent can be granted to someone who has created something that is inventive, new and useful. More..

COMMERCIALISE
If you own IP and have completed your business plan professionally you may discover you need external funding to ensure growth and success. More..

CHOICES
Manufacturing your own new idea is a lot easier if you are already in a manufacturing business. Diversification within your own industry is more achievable than starting from scratch. More..

Oh and I have 2 ideas ;)

I look forward to you sharing those ideas with us so that I and fellow BF posters can use your ideas, profiteer from these ideas, acknowledge them as our own ideas and then share with you our successes so that you can be proud that you have had such an impact on the welfare of fellow Big Footyians whilst receiving no royalties whatsoever. ;)

Cash flow??????????
Wait until there red and getting surly.
It is businesses that have this attitude that fk it up for everyone else. I find that by being courteous and paying all my bills on time, it creates a better working relationship which can then have other flow ons. Good reputation, word spreads, suddenly people are calling me to do business with me instead of me hounding everyone to give us a chance.

In fact, I generally cut ties with businesses who drag us out all the time. Gotta be tough with these asreholes i reckon.

I think the recycling industry has a huge upside, my idea, and I don't mind sharing because I always come up with new ideas, is the empty chemical drums (20lt) that don't get recycled and have to be hoarded like we do at work, can be converted into buckets, sounds simple, and it is all you need is a metal (wire) handle and cut the top of the drum off, drill 2 holes, insert handle, and presto you have a bucket. We have so many of these drums we don't know what to do with them, so you could get them for nothing I reckon, the bucket could sell for 15 bucks I reckon and it would last a good while too as the plastic is pretty sturdy.

Go to Big W and buy 20 light bulbs.

Go to a house in any street and offer to cahnge all the light bulbs in their house for the tiny price of $5.

Go to the next house and make the same offer but replace their light bulbs with the bulbs you got from the previous house.

Just keep repeating this.

i would be looking at starting something in broome, huge potential now in light of decreased overseas travel and an aging population
