Against the Swans ?

Given how poor you have been ?

Interested in your veiws ?

You never know. It might rain lots in Sydney this week and make it a rain inspired slogfest. Eight goals is enough to win the game. We kick the first couple of goals and hang on to a 3 goal lead all night, only to survive a late challenge by the swans.

Well it happened in 2006. The difference back then was St.kilda had some fight and excitement about them. :(

yep, one team we can win against as we do not need to score many goals. two decent scoring quarters can be enough.

in fact i am quite confident for the first time in weeks. we seem to get up for it as well to prove we do not play like the swans.

A few players need to change position, and my thoughts are;

Kosi è CHB
Riewoldt è Wing
Goddard è Wing

I don’t think it'll work this week against the swans, but I like this idea.
Kosi won his rising star at CHB, and maybe for once we can just leave him in the 1 position. Against the dogs, each time he floated back, he took a massive pack grab and shut down an attack of theirs. I think he can do it, heck, I KNOW he can. We've seen him do it.

Riewoldt = Richo - 6 years?? Why not?? Let him run and roam and cut teams up by doing that, and he can float forward, help out and maybe slot 1 or 2, as a wingman. Without a pressure of a set shot, he seems to do ok… It seems we move kosi everywhere, but never roo. If roo is getting 20 touches a game and 10 marks, he will cause damage,

Now, that leaves our forward line exposed. Well, it's about time we put some faith in the younger players we have., and the other forwards

HF. X Clarke - McEvoy/Allen - Birss
FF: Milne - Fergo – Schneider

With riewoldt running down there on most thrusts forward, it might work. We don't have too many other options has some good tackling, and actually can apply the forward line pressure we need so badly. Birss can kick the footy well, and has convinced me he deserves his spot. We know what Milne can do on his day, as too with Schneider, it's just the consistency. Fergo and Macca and Jaz need to be given the chances to do it.

Backline:

FB: Dempster - Huighton - Baker
HB:S Fisher – Kosi – Gram

Whata ya know, the frees up BJ to do as he pleases. The kid needs to be let free, he reads the play so well and uses the ball better than most. Let him do his job. On a wing? Could work, he has always wanted to play midfield, but never given the chance. I think this line up is what we need to see: Then you have gram and fish running off the backline with kosi breaking the packs, All theory, I know, but it has worked before.

FB Dempster – Hughton - Baker
HB S Fisher – Kosi - Gram
C Riewoldt – Ball - Goddard
HF X Clarke – McEvoy/Allen - Birss
FF Milne – Fergo - Schneider
RUC King – Hayes – Dal Santo

INT Harvey, Montagna, M Gardiner, Armitage

Geary, Jones, Attard, Blake, Gilbert, C Gardiner, Goose, McQualter - Some I forgot about, some are on the fringe, Goose, Gilbo and Attard to come back after injury…Want Jones/Geary in there for youth purposes, who comes out?

All this sounds good and well in theory I know, but it makes sense and we know the players can play those positions. Why not even BJ up forward? These 3 changes could help us get on some track...We've seen Roo kill teams on a wing, and Kosi @ CHB...

FFS Saints, try something!

Maybe the boys will fire up to stick it to the ______ (rhymes with maggot) Swan supporters who seem to try to stir up shit regularly - including the Barry Hall groupies.

Hi guys sorry to interrupt on your board but was curious to see your reaction to the doggies game.

After watching the saint play live for the first time this year my fears were magnified for your team.

In the first quarter the game plan was totally wrong and i would hate to watch a game like that every week. Maybe it was the fact Ross Lyon didn't want us to get off to a good start, but trying to save the game by flooding in the first quarter when the game is not even won is surely not the way to play when you have some silky running midfielder and running back man who can kick it long to two big forwards who are just crying out for some quick delivery so they have a one on one chance.

I think to beat Sydney you are going to have to move the ball quickly, take some risks. The amount of times i saw your players take a mark and go back behind the mark when they had the opportunity to play on really made me cringe.

Don't think the saints are soft but i do think they are playing the wrong game plan. Hopefully Ross Lyon takes some risks on the weekend, as you guys have nothing to lose.

Good Luck, hope you stitch up the protected Swans.

:D I hope so.
You don't have to sit amongst them this Sat night ....

Hahaa.

Is anyone from the board coming to the match, incidentally? Always good to see some passion from supporters at the game, especially as I sit right next to the cheer squad at the SCG.

If its raining, I can see a substantial window opening up for the Saints. We're horrible in the wet, and part of the 3rd and 4th quarters against the Tigers is testament to that. The game will be the first test for the team out of many to see how we gel once Baz is back in the team - the forward line was just starting to function pretty well and gain some structure.

Other than that, I'm getting there extra early to see the ressies and maybe have a chat with Sean and Adam. Sean was my favourite for a while, so I'll see if I can get him to sign my guernsey in the #26 :)

Gram and Goddard to the midfield. Throw in Schendier in there too.
Has he developed the stamina and fitness to? That was one of his setbacks at the Swans .. not having the stamina to play in the midfield when he definitely had the attack and creativity to.

I like this post. Would love to see it happen.

Actually you cant have McEvoy or Allen at CHF yet. I hate to preach but Charlie Gardiner would make a good makeshift CHF imo .... :)

Should have played Gardiner so he and Playfair could have gone for the rejected duds cup.

We will get ownedddd, specially without Armo.

Wouldnt mind seeing that team that was posted before ^. Just flipping try something different!

If Hank "No Dukes" Playfair kicks a goal against us I will demand the immediate sacking of his opponent.

Agree - c'mon Henry, Play Fair! "He who was born without fingers" should not trouble the scorers.

At the risk of having the Swan trollers come onto the Board like a scene from the movie "Rats", how does "Magic" (O'Loughlin) get a kick? He doesn't seem to work particularly hard, except when he pushes his opponent in the back with the double forearms (rarely penalised for some reason) or falls forward in a tackle (he hasn't had many frees this year, so maybe the umps are onto this one).

Having said that, O'Keefe will probably tear us a new one again along with Buchanan and the resting ruckman who both kick goals.

Magic gets a kick because he's proven. Been in pretty good form this year as our leading FF, and even if he does crap, he lets a whole lot of pressure off others, playing a role similar, though not as physical, as what Hall does for us.

Oh, and he has a knack of getting quick goals in the nick of time :)
