Writing is a hobby of mine, and so I very much enjoy it when I have the time and motivation to write. Unfortunately, that isn't very often. I always find it difficult to allocate time and attention to writing, and when I do so, it always seems difficult to think of something to write about.

I like to write every now and then, mostly historical fiction centered around ancient Rome. Currently writing one about Julian the Apostate. It's very loosely based on the RTW series. I have an idea to write a novel and try and get it published (maritime thriller in the vein of what Clive Cussler does) but will probably never get around to it.

Oh wow!

I like to keep a journal. I like writing short stories and poems and song lyrics (despite my inability to sing and general musical nongoodness)

Care to share any?

I write blogs about events that go on in my life, well my friends lives. Out of the 60+ pages of things I have in Word, I think I have written 2 or 3 pieces about myself.

I love to write. I've never really written anything of note, just stupid little short stories about outrageous premises. But writing is one thing i never had trouble with. When everyone else in school was struggling to get their stories up to 2000 words, i was struggling to fit everything into 2000 words.

Strongly relate to the "write song lyrics but has no musical talent whatsoever" thing. I actually tried the other day while home alone to sing one, don't think I hit a single note. Singing is over-rated anyway, everything sounds better if its just kept inside my head.

I find with trying to write stories, that I can't type faster enough to keep up with how I'm imagining the story is going, then get "lost" in where I am in it and give up writing it.

Write for a few magazines in Australia and England, keep up a blog, and write about the perils of the Melbourne FC on the main board. Sup.

It's a shame that BF don't enjoy what you write. :p

I've thought about writing, the only problem being that I never have any good ideas. And by that I mean an idea which is interesting enough to support at least a novella. I am creatively challenged. Sure, I could add my floater to the sea of excrement that is the blogosphere, but I don't see the point in writing about the mundane of my life when I have no interest in similar posts by others.
NB: This isn't intended to insult those on here who keep blogs, even in a sea of shit one can find a few flushed wedding rings.

I write often about issues in my friends lives.

For personal reasons, perhaps it's a way of making sense of the issues? Or do you find them interesting, and believe others will too? Admittedly some people have a style of writing that can make anything interesting.

Kind of, but I just find them easy to write about. I use a lot of metaphors when I write.

I write columns for a website that I've never gotten around to actually setting up. Kinda prefer it this way as I'm ironing out my faults before anyone has a chance to read them.

Wrote one column (a preview) for a competition to be published on the North website for the North vs. Carlton game and came second. Was such a close second that the dude running it emailed me to say how close it was.

Highlight of my career.

I've dabbled for years without much luck, I see as a form of therapy as much as anything else. A few things I would suggest, read a lot and learn from people who are better writers than you'll ever be, don't be afraid to upset people who might read something you write and recognise an unflattering take on them, if you do that you won't ever write and honest word, and don't be afraid to show people what you have written and ask them for help.
