Just had a mate email me this story
A ONE-eyed Carlton supporter was sacked for telling fellow workers they were "f***wits" for not supporting his team, a court has been told.
Bernie Shackcloth, 36, told two colleagues he could not believe OAMPS - one of Australia's largest insurance brokers - had given them tickets to accompany him to Carlton's 2007 best and fairest John Nicholls Medal dinner in Melbourne when they did not "even go for Carlton", the Northern Territory Supreme Court was told.
"You are like B1 and B2, only f***wit 1 and f***wit 2," he drunkenly abused them at the event last September.
One female colleague told the court she left the table because she feared a fight would break out.
OAMPS worker Athena Tyris, who was one of two who complained about Shackcloth, dismissed the suggestions his abuse was just "harmless football banter".
Colleague Dustyn Brown backed up her account that Shackcloth had called them "f***wits".
Justice Stephen Southwood said Shackcloth was heavily intoxicated, after drinking before and during his red-eye flight from Darwin to Melbourne, at lunchtime, during the the afternoon, and about "10 standard drinks" at dinner.
Seven days later, Shackcloth - who had a $500,000 client portfolio - was sacked by OAMPS after offering no apology or explanation for his behaviour.
The judge also dismissed Shackloth's counter-claim of wrongful dismissal, as he said OAMPS could not be confident Shackcloth would not repeat his drunken behaviour.
Good flipping on him!!!
