I checked in to the Hotel #eco last September. Just needed to get out of the way of the inevitable next kick to the emotional goolies.

The passion is coming back. I was ******* furious at quarter time this Saturday. Those bludging slugs that were allowed to defile the Yellow and Black all need to be delisted or sent to Carlton.

Yep, send them to Carlton, where we can offload second round pick after second round pick to get them back!

Apathy on behalf of myself. They clearly couldn't give a shit, so why should I. Been here before, and if anything keeps the table conversation pumping when a few of us miserable Tiger-supporting business contacts catch up for lunch a few times a year.

There's two other feelings though, and they're apprehension and sadness. Not for the club's future, as we clearly have a massive supporter base, are financially sound, and we know the AFL will never wrap us up. But for my kids. My entire life has been pretty ordinary as a Tiges lover. Was only a youngster at the '80 GF, and was obviously unaware of the decades of shit we were to face. I grew up in the 70's - 00's in Essendon, when we were rubbish and they were successful, and looking back school sucked. I can reminisce and smile at how bad some of our sides and players were, laugh about how "character building" it was growing up a Tiges supporter, and joke about how even Fitzroy have played in more finals than us since 1983! And whilst I'd never give them away, it was crap being a Tiges supporter as a school-kid.

My kids have got the Punt Rd bug badly (sorry kids). I just hope that by the time they really get into the banter around the schoolyard that we've got some ray of hope. Sadly, I'm not optimistic on this at all. We'll keep f****** it up.

In my opinion apathy is far worse than anger when it comes to competitive sport.
At least with anger, the passion is still there.
With apathy, you lose the passion.
How many posters are apathetic about our current season and how many are angry?
Dumping chicken crap at Punt Rd was a display of anger. While it was immature and purile, it at least had passion behind it.
So many fellow supporters have just checked out now.
And yes I know, #eco and all that, but it's a serious issue.
I know a lot are probably both angry and apathetic, but choose only one.
angry, if I was apathetic, I wouldn't be on here

But it was the truth.

No it wasn't, it was pathetic. No supporter base in history wants to climb to the middle. The idea that after 30 years of waiting we wouldn't be prepared to wait an extra 2-3 is ridiculous.

Either way, I don't believe his statement. What he said just summed up the mentality of the club currently, a combination of trying to be too clever and in such damage control that they thought explaining the f*** ups away as deliberate moves was a good idea.

that's your summation that's not quite what he said, reality is given the constraints with limited draft picks they did the best they could. I'm a supporter and I don't regret winning a lot of games. we didn't win a flag in that time, GUESS what either did 17 other sides, and those poor campaigners that one very few games back then, guess what, In 2016, they have still won very few games. we need change but don't be a hindsight genius, it doesn't suit you

I'm very apathetic towards game day, it's a bit of a foregone conclusion to what will happen. What gets me angry is some of the things being said by important figures in the club.

Apathy.
Donated every year to the fighting tiger fund on top of my membership to "help" the club.
The clubs now has new "things", drainage, grass, grandstand, expanded underachieving football dept.
Two things it doesn't have are balls and heart. The conservative approach over the last few years hasn't inspired any of the stars we have chased to take a chance on the tigs. Neither has the conservative draft selections.
I've disagreed with this idea all year, but now im all aboard. Trade lids to gws, get 2-3 of their first round kids, or the first round picks they secured of the pies. No guts no glory!

Good thread.

It is funny that those claim apathy post a ton daily on the hardwick topic with there rage So i would say passion is still there for most.

Myself i am neither of those two emotions. I am disapointed in some of the decisions the club has made last year that is impacting us now but also very curious.

I am curious to see how our club reaction to not only the pressure from the media for change but also from supporters.

It is a watershed moment. Do they hold strong to there plan? Do the evolve it and adapt it but still keep true to it?

Or do they buckle to the pressure and give in to all the "experts" who know whats wrong and how to fix it?
Hopefully they do what's best for the club rather then try and save face.

I am beginning to think about it given we re worse than I thought ,

Don't you dare try and make any sense of the boards ramblings, of course the more you post means the less you care , why would you think otherwise

Anger, I used to buy into the bullshit this club span about mature recruits, warchests, FT funds, but eventually you either wake up to fact they have no idea or just delude yourselves into thinking your a bigger fan because you stay loyal by swallowing.

I have turned off games at half time before, but once the anger has settled, 1,2,3 hours or the next day, I've always watched the end of the game.
Saturdays game I stopped watching at half time, and never thought about watching the rest of the game. Sunday night deleted it.

Definitely apathy. GAF!

As the former great Melbourne band would say: 'I'm interested in apathy'.
Apathy for me, Tugga.
As you know from other circles we mix in, I actually predicted us to finish somewhere from 10th-12th this season. Our current 13th is it (?????), is even below that expectation, but I am neither here nor there about it, even though my prediction fuelled quite a bit of derision and backlash inthose circles - so be it. I could see us going backwards at a rate of knots under this coach (who I have maintained for four years now is both poor in the coaching box and in his preparation ..... he has brought other traits to the table that have been pluses, no denying it). And I just don't rate our list outside our top tier. We could very well have the best top five group of players in the league, but it falls away quickly and has for several reasons. I admit to being more cynical than most, but I also question more than most. As Jon Ralph posed the question today: The club keeps raving about its past two drafts, but who is the next A-grade star apart from the top five on this list? Fair point. Whether we pick at pick 1, 3, 7, 12, 16 or 18 - your first round pick needs to be a star or thereabouts. They can't be B. Ellis or Conca fair to good; or Lennon nowhere near fair right now. We at Richmond accept somewhere 'close enough'. But I find myself less inclined to make the trek to Melbourne to see a game and once where I would have headed to the nearest pub to watch the GWS game or even Essendon game, I went to the local footy instead (GWS) or headed interstate to SA (Essendon) for the other. They just don't give me a reason to want to care, which after 40 years as a member is rather sad.
To put it in perspective, while living in Melbourne, I never missed a game in the 80s and early-mid 90s. There were some pretty horrid years under Jewell (second time around), KB, Jeans and early Northey, but I never found a reason not to go and felt a real attachment with the club and playing group. But I don't with this lot. We could get smashed by Essendon or Carlton by 100 points, but you saw hope in a developing Knights, Lambert, Campbell, Maxfield, Turner, even Stuart Edwards and you had to be there to see them, hopefully - inch by inch - improve the next week. Of course some didn't make it, so you would find yourself tracking their progress at Port Melbourne or suburban level after leaving. But no more. I was glad to see Markov's debut a few weeks back live and hold hope he might be a good'un. But this current crop and especially people running/ruining the club no longer inspires. I had to check the fixture last night to find out who we were playing next week. Tells you plenty. Three years ago I could reel our round 1-23 opponents off the top of my head.
Yeah TISM is all that entered my mind too.
I don't know where I sit but I am as flat as a shit carters hat, and I suppose that lies in the middle somewhere.

I've called Child Protection and you can expect a welfare officer soon. Its best for the kids if we intervene and they follow a different club.

Apathetic about this season now. We should lose. It's in our best interests to lose. There is nothing to gain in 2016 until the trade/draft season.

Angry on game day but not after qtr time on Sat.... mainly due to the shockingly awful way we were trying to play.

I'll continue to be pissed off on game days but in reality I'm now looking forward to the changes that will be made to our list, coaching staff, fitness staff, recruiting etc.... the only thing giving me any reason for enjoyment for the rest of this season is that Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon will also miss the finals!

Its all anger here.

72k paying members and the many more fans expect and deserve better than what we've been promised this year.

Hopefully 72k members vote to unpeg the club from mediocrity.

So if the club signed up 0 members for 2017, what do you actually think would happen? Serious question.

I've had a tism song in my head for a few days, Greg the stop sign. Giving me the shits.
