APS Season 2011

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Based on numbers in TAC/AIS/Vic Metro, it looks like Wesley and Carey shall be battling it out.

Who plays who this saturday?

I know Xavs play Wesley (amazing amount of shit talking going on the fb event page ha)

And Skevs play Carey. Should be 2 big games.

What are the other match ups?

The other games are:

Brighton vs. Geelong College
Melbourne Grammar vs. Caulfield
Geelong Grammar vs. Scotch
Haileybury have they bye

Caulfield with their depth, mix of seasoned stars and heartbreak from last year will be extremely strong, Carey will be great to see play and one more year and they'll probably murder the APS. ooking forward to the season getting underway and seeing the likes of bugg and paine should be a great year

I am unsure what you are talking about gooders. Caulfield have very little depth, bugg wears a helmet and who is paine? I think that wesley vs xavier could be premiership deciding. Brighton vs Geelong college is also a big game. Caulfield vs Melbourne Grammar is the battle of the wooden spoon. I cannot wait to see the likes of Howes and Seccul from Hailebury (as i am an old hailebury boy)

No words on Haileybury? Heard they have only got young blood and a few great year 12's.

Haileybury will be outstanding, the likes of howes secull, and the one and only daniel "secas" secatore!!!!! I think Brighton will be up there with wesley and Xavier. I finished haileybury two years ago and as I said i live with my partner (who is also an old haileybury boy). We look forward to seeing geelong college vs Brighton this week, but i cannot wait till haileybury come to brightons ground (whatever round it it). The haileybury boys have a great set of legs :) Especially Mitchell Howes, who shows them off nicely in those tiny pair of shorts he wears ;) :)

Skevs beat carey by 44 today.
Was only a point in it at half time but skevs just ran over carey in the 2nd half. The team was half the size of carey, with half the amount of Tac players, but destroyed them round the ground all day. Good win.

One of the great games of APS football. Toby Greene from Wes winning the game single handedly off his own boot with 5 goals in the last after they were 4 goals down

just a ridiculous game, tight all day, wesley up by 4 points at 3/4 time and xavier kick the first 4 or 5 goals of the last quarter and thought they had it won, with 10 mins to go wesley down by 20 points and toby greene kicks 4 goals to win it, a couple of them in 2 on 1 contests, just an amazing one player performance

will rioli starred for xavier in the forward line, cousin of cyril

Rivarly game this week Brighton vs Caulfield at Caulfield

caulfield obvious favourites and bugg being the biggest threat

brighton do have a chance but highely unlikely

caulfield have bigger bodies and there side mainly contains year 12s, they should be top 3 this year. bugg has already been signed to GWS and is defiantly top 5 in the APS. caulfields biggest advantage is they have a large range of bigger bodies(mainly for 95% of there team being year 12s) and there range of skillful players

brighton do have a few good players such as a buddy franklin type player lachlan boyd who can be a huge threat and hard to shut down when his playing well but is inconsistent at times, they have gun year 10s but there not mature enough to be deadly. brightons biggest advantage is there team chemistry and pace.

some would say caulfield would have this in the bag but if brighton can shut down bugg, win the clearances and use there pace to outrun caulfield it should be a great game

odds caulfield $1.86, brighton $4.00

Caulfield beat Grammar in a great game, however i think caulfield were lucky to get up. Jackson Paine was great for grammar.

Match of the round this friday with grammar taking on scotch in the cordner eggleston cup - should be agreat game with my tip grammar to get up with paine a best on ground performance.

Caulfield vs Brighton will be a quality game to watch there's a bit of bad blood after some slightly sensitive aps swimming chants.

Caulfield will be up and about after a last minute win against Melbourne who definitely were unlucky, top notch game, Paine and Bugg played beautifully to be expected also keep an eye on blake pearson from caulfield throughout the year

Melbourne are fairly average this year compared to the teams they have had in the past. From What iv heard Caulfield wont be anywhere near as strong as they were last year but Brightons team last year was a joke so theres only room for them to improve. Brighton lost to Geelong Collage by 5 goals and played fairly average, they will be hungry. Both teams are hyped up for the game as it seems Caulfield/Brightons Love Hate relationship has turned into hatred after Brightons chants at APS swimming and Tommy Wing year 10 moved from Caulfield to Brighton, suspected chons.

Caulfield's Blake Pearson & Jack Edwards are team mates from last years Vic Metro under 15's side & both had a good second half against Grammar.
Pearson's run & carry was impressive with Edwards slotting the last two goals in the dying minutes of the game, a good initiation into 1st XV111 footy.

Saw St Kevs play Carey on Sat, they look to have a pretty solid team.... should be good to watch them go up against Wes/ Xavier

Dog effort tbh, below the belt in a public arena.

A hardened team, not exactly the biggest, but they hit the ball with great intensity.
Have a couple of Bigger bodies to return to the side in the next couple of weeks, so should be set for those matches against wes/xav/cgs.

That's a big call considering MGS beat them by well over 10 goals in a praccy with several key players missing, apparently Scotch did so in similar fashion. I'm well aware that a practice match doens't mean much but over 10 goals is a large gap to decrease.
Sounds like St Kevins will have quite an average year compared to the passed couple of seasons.

Skevs played without about 10 startup players for those games, tac boys plus others, and had majority yr 10's playing, so not the best indicator of the team.

Beat a pretty arogant carey team who came over expecting to smash skevs by 50 odd, even without viney.

Few close games there, great start to the season. No surprises for some of those players in the best whats the deal with the scotch GGS having no information, who played well in that game?
