Thats a poor answer. Free trade is the end goal for all nations. You shouldn't have to be part of some club to have free trade. Please give a different answer. Surely this is not the only reason why you see the EU as value? Because if it is it is no different to advocating that everyone should join gangs because gangs give preferential treatment to their buddies.

Sounds like international diplomacy actually - preferential treatment for friends
