Are there stats for which player has been dropped the most times during their career? If not, which player to you think it might be?

My guess would be Tim Clarke. He played 96 games for Hawthorn between 2001 and 2008, and I don't think he ever really cemented his place in the side.

I don't know of any official stats but Frank Dunell at Essendon through the early 80s would have to be a contender.

Always too good for the 2nds but never a regular in the seniors until they started winning flags (not a bad time to cement your spot!).

Here's another nomination - Mark Scott from Hawthorn/St Kilda/Fitzroy through the 70s/80s.

About 70 games over a decade, always up the top of the reserves goalkicking table but would have been lucky to play more than a dozen senior games in any given year.

He was always stuck behind an established full-forward (Hudson then Moncrieff at Hawks, Lockett at Saints, Quinlan then Lynch at Lions) and usually only got a run if they were injured.
