Goals after the siren

Here's an interesting stat: prior to 2000 there were 27 goals kicked after the siren. Since 2000 there have been 30. Since 2020 there were no less than 9! Whereas for the entire 90s there were only 4! Is this just a quirk or is there any reason why goals after the siren are becoming more regular?
Lower scoring and umpire intervention probably dictating that.

More well documented in the 24-hour footy news cycle. There is every chance they happened somewhat regularly back in the day – statistics would say so, and I uncovered a few myself that weren't previously documented – but they weren't covered with as much vigour by the media.

fairly obvious why there has been additional goals after the siren in recent times due to the 6-6-6 rule
