Ben Cousins??

Just gunna throw it out there to you all for discussion.

Is it possible that the reason we played so much better is because Cuz and the distraction that comes with him wasn't there?

Personally i don't believe thats the case and i think today against the cats that we could've done with his disposal and cool head.

However, todays improved performance has got me wondering whether maybe he's too much of a distraction?

Not a stupid thread. Decent question.

Are we better of without Cousins the player? probably no.

But Cousins the media circus? Most definately yes.

One goes with the other, I understand that, but the whole scenario was a huge bubble waiting to burst and it didn't take long.

A few wins under the belt before he gets back would be nice, an even focus on the team is much more preferable (in a perfect world) to a lopsided focus on a 30 yr old, who's longevity is still very questionable.

Thank you emperor! I didn't think it was a stupid question!

are you saying that cause we didnt have ben cousins today is why we played better? thats a stupid question if so.. forgive me if im wrong. but thats how i read it.

I think having Ben's experience in the side outweighs the media circus and attention he brings to the club, regardless of how much the boys clearly can't handle the 'big' games.

Today was a big match considering their efforts last week, and they did ok.

I think Cousins not playing today really emphasized that the kids need to step up. No riding off anyone's back. With that said however, Cousins experience and on field aesthetics will certainly help with our kids development.

ARe we better of without Jake King?

He confirmed today, if some weren't already aware, that he's simply not up to it. That ball he coughed up coming out of full back in the third quarter (that ended up costing us two goals!) was a true momentum killer.

As for Cousins, if fully fit, he'd have been real handy out there today. May have been the difference and got us over the line at the end - I don't believe he's not as au fait with losing those type of games as our more seasoned Tiger players.

no. might have won today if he had played. see how g ablett grew an extra leg in the 4th. cuz might have been the equaliser but we just had no answer for him.

No. Cousins would've stepped it up in the last quarter or if not, would've aided a Foley or Tuck to do the same.

Today's performance was similar to the sort of performance we saw from the team late last year, so thats why i'm just putting the question out there as to whether maybe with cousins being out of the team that maybe the team overall plays better because the younger guys don't slacken off?

It's hard to say atm cause Cuz has only played the 1 game, but this could be a question/thread to be re-assessed towards the end of the season

fair enoughb only time will tell

Richmond Football Club will be 3 million dollars better off this year because of ben cousins , psd pick that makes you 3 mill and shows the younger players the levell you need to be at to become a champ.

what you get from cuz on the ground is all bonus. my understanding is that the rfc is in debt around 4-5 mill.........it was the correct decision.

yep agree, i said it earlier and some have said it in here, cuz would have lifted him and every one around him in that last quarter.
