If you read deep in to the article eventually you come to this paragraph, which finally represents the situation with some reality, as opposed to the headlines and the start of the article. I guess if you are quoting a goverment source you just can't make it up.

Two things to keep in mind about arsonist causing fires. First they are almost impossible to stop. The second is because we are hotter and drier, in a large part due to global warming, then the fires they start will be worse. So the argument sort of becomes irrelevant.

BTW Many victims have thanked the ABC and attributed their survival to it. The Australian has, of course, attacked the ABC's coverage.

Good point but the point of “direct human involvement” shouldn’t be overlooked because it wasn’t deliberate.

I would love to see the face of the campaigner who decided to spread fake news about a national disaster. I'd like to let them know what a lowlife piece of scum they are. There's a special place in hell for a person who deliberately spreads lies about a disaster for personal gain. Some of those charges would include using machinery like welders, angle grinders and even mowers or slashers outdoors during a total fire ban.
