Who won't be playing for us in 09;

Tivendale - Gone

Pettifer - Gone

Hyde - Gone

Howat - Gone

Bowden - Last 11 games to prove he can still play

Meyer - If can't recover to play for Coburg, gone

JON - If can't get a call up in second half, gone

Jackson - If can't get a call up in second half, gone

Need another chance:

Schulz
Polak
McMahon

Anyone I missed?

Agreed, except I don't know that JON has much chance of being delisted at seasons end regardless of whether he plays or not, and Pettifer is no certainty to be gone either.

Pettifer - If he is Out of contract, then goodbye.
Tivva - Will retire
Hyde - Gone.
Howat - They won't promote him to Senior List
Meyer - Will probably leave
Jackson - Needs to do something
Casserly - As Jackson
Polo - I think he'll stay because this year has been injury riddled

McMahon? You wish mate.

I don't think pettifer will go, believe it or not he does have upsides and would be a very handy player to have running around in the VFL to replace injured players. If he learns how to do the 1 percenters then he could become a handy 2-3 goal a game player. But he definitely needs to learn how to tackle and do the team thing first

Pettifer averages more Tackles than Morton per game. :thumbsu:

Yeah but morton plays a lot deeper in attack than pettifer, and it is there where the pressure is needed. That does surprise me though, how many tackles does petts average? And Morton?

But it's not just his tackling that is the problem, it is just the way he goes about his game. He's a pretty lazy player, but if he put his mind to it he could be a very good lead up forward

tiv - will retire
pettifer - traded probably to freo
Hyde - delist will be playing for bendigo bombers helping essendons midfield in a mentoring role.
Cartledge- Was only ever back up
Silvestor- Same as Cartledge
Bowden- Surely 09 will be the year to let casserly/connors/JON take his spot in the team. Would he be worth a third round pick??

I for one want wallace to see out his 5 years, i would also be happy to play the young guys as other posters have mentioned in the last few days. Honourable losses till the end of the year would be fine, and use pick 1, 2 and 18 to springboard us up the ladder next year. THis would be the last major chop of cancer from the RFC ensuring sustained success into the future. i cant see the point in having a few more wins this year leaving us in no mans land mid table.

Realistic Tiger posted it somewhere and I went at checked it out. Pettifer averages 2.8 to Morton's 1.8. Petts averages 6 more possessions too. Petts has 6 tackles against the Swans. Tivendale had 6 tackles verse the Crows.

Wasn't it the tackling that got these guys dropped from the start?

In reality we won't get the priority picks...

Therefore we need to delist probably 4 players to roughly get:

National Draft Picks*: #5, #23, #39, #55, pass on pick 71 and 87

I think we need to take at least 3, maybe even 4 players in the draft. Wouldn't mind trading pick #39 and just picking up 3 players.

Pre-Season Draft: #5

Obviously depends if there is anyone available

Rookie Picks: #5, #21, #37

Again, depends on how many rookies we axe

*Presuming Fremantle and one other team won't win over 5 games this year

Therefore (depending on trades)....

I imagine:
- We will delist a minimum of 4 players from the season list and move Bowden onto the veteran's list as a depth player. This means we will have 5 vacancies on the senior list.
- These 5 vacancies could be used to promote rookie listed players
- Putting Bowden on the veteran's list is also better then picking up a rookie selection in the 30's or 40's

At this stage...
Gonski (season list):
- Tivendale (retired)
- Hyde (delisted)

Thin ice:
- Pettifer
- Jackson
- Schultz
- Meyer
- Graham
- Casserly (even though he is contracted)

I would also say it it's unlikely that Silvestor and Howatt will be elevated to the list, while Collard is young enough to be retained on the rookie list (or elevated), while Cartlege may be promoted if we don't pick up a ruck in a trade/if Graham's delisted. Otherwise Cartlege may be re-rookied as I have been pretty impressed with him

Mate you're pissing in our pockets. By removing all of these players in one year will only lead to more instability which is something we've been suffering from for almost 30 years. Why do you think Wallace went public last year and admitted Richmond's depth was abominable and it will take years to rebuild? Look how many coaches have tried and failed. The only way forwards is to rebuild in waves and you can only nurture young talent with experience. It takes almost three years for a lot of players to really adjust to the rigours of AFL football. There is going to be no quick fixes. Having said this, I am disappointed with the lack of quality big men playing at the club. Personally I think there has been too much focus on midfielders and I will be worried if the club does not try to address this at the end of the year. One explanation would be this has been due to having a part time recruiting department when most of the successful clubs have had established full time recruiting personnel for years.

I would change Bowden to Gone. Him and Pettifer are a cancer on the team. Wouldn't even let them play for Coburg. Stamp it now.

Will get shot down for this one but McGuanne Gone. Sorry but he just isn't good enough.

Would keep Meyer, Coughlan, Casserley. Would like to see them with one year injury free.

No trading draft picks this year and just pick up a heap of kids.

Over a 100 odd games. Too late to "learn" about 1 percenters. Soon to be a ghost of the RFC.

Mcguane should be kept. End of story

What about the people who pick these draft picks.

Miller : can some tell me when he was in charge of our player list.

Some of them names you have thrown up there are his doing ... or am I wrong ?

Miller has to go ............. what do others think .
