That's almost identical to another statistic I know of. A far more important statistic. You know what I'm talking about? :)

yeah considering nadal is 24 and fed is 29 and won against mugs? clealry this era is much much more competitive that hewitt and roddicks era..even a ****** would agree on this.Prior to rafas ride he had no opponents.Anyway i dont wish to turn it into a fed vs rafa slagging match but is he is the GOAT why is he getting owned in his era by his biggest rival? rafa has a winning record against roger on every surface other than indoor hardcourt and grass where is down 1-2 and should beat him the next time they meet.

Anyone else sick of federers whining? whining when the linesmen and the umpire make their job better than him LOL also not apologizing properly after lucky netcords on big points.

He's an incredably poor sport.

He shows an appalling lack of respect to opponents as well.

His comments after he lost the 2008 Wimbledon final, which remains the greatest sporting occassion I've ever seen, managed to sully something that was absolutely magnificent.

I don't enjoy much more in sport than that moment when you see Nadal break his spirit.

Agreed dipper..i wonder how he feels when he goes back to the locker room and goes through the match review and see how wrong he was? this is not an isolated incident, he did the same against Soderling, insulted the linesman by calling him clueless. He does not like the hawk-eye, he doesnt respect the linesmans decision, gee, i wonder if he thinks he is above everyone? thats why i so happy to see him lose everytime, the guy is a complete tool, yet when roddick does the same, everyone gangs up on him.Federer is no better.0-5 against Rafole this year and plenty of beatdown to come Roger, enjoy :thumbsu:

Nail Hammer Head!

Its not just results that make you a champion - and he even did this when he was in his domminance. Sure say what you like about Rafa or Nole but at least they are gracious in defeat. RF may have the better record but I will aways enjoy watching other player win other than him. I think Rafa and Nole get along alot better with each other then they do with Federa

Onto the final - im in 2 minds. One is Nole is my favorite and I love whenever he wins BUT it would be a big morale booster for Rafa and Spain after losing one of the greats in Ballesteros. Also im not to fussed if Nole gets a loss or two out of the way before Roland Garros comes around....THATS the one I wan him undefeated for

on a different topic: does anyone feel that the Madrid surface is the worst out of any surface on tour? its a clay court but plays faster than most hardcourts and even faster than London , the bounce is uneven. Why was Hamburg scrapped? Bring back hamburg, Madrid is by no means an atp 250 standard tournament.

"There's no way that's the ball".

"Do you think he's right, do you think he has a clue?", referring to the linesman who was clearly right.

He was arguing when Leyani came down from the chair, then argued again at the changover, then when Rafa was about to serve he started arguing again. Good look Roger, especially given you were wrong.

TP, this tournament is a bit of a joke. The surface does play more like a hardcourt than a clay court, last night was some of the quickest clay court tennis I've ever seen. The surface has improved since it was first held, but it's still nowhere near where it should be. I miss Hamburg, partly because of the roof. :D

Hey Drummo, do ya think Federer was trying to cheat or just clueless? :D i do think he was trying to cheat there, he was right on top of the ball and saw the mark...he knew he had lost the rally, so maybe he thought he could get away with it by showing a different mark.

I think I have to agree with much of the sentiment in this thread. There's no denying that Federer is a champion but he really is a poor sport at times. Even after his Wmby QF loss last year I thought he made a few poor comments. C'mon you've won 16 GS that's a shit load, surely you can be gracious that you've had one of the greatest careers of all time?

cause he had a point there, he hit the ball and then the challenge was made  and read about NOT BE AN ISOLATED incident. Federer is never happy...he even complained about the hawk eye several times.Remember wimbledon final 2007? "no no no, this thing is killing me today, how can you trust this thing"..yeah roger one should only count on your judgement.

Exactly. About that Nadal 'incident', the thing is, he was actually right. And how about that Fed dummy spit at Wimby 07, when he asked the umpire whether Hawkeye could be switched off. :D

Looking forward to the final, the two best players, my two favourite players. :thumbsu:

well said drummo, i am not really fussed about who wins today, like you, these 2 are my favourite players with rafa being the slight favourite :D I hope nole and rafa and make the final in italia too...but please guys stop beating the shit out of each other, no 4 hour match please

Djokovich might well win today when you consider the nature of this surface, although I still make Nadal a slight favourite but I really think that people are making too much of his early season hard court form and assuming that he'll make a real challenge to Nadal at the French.

For my money Nadal will beat him at the French every day of the week and the same goes for Wimbledon.

With Murray so far in the doldrums there is very little challenge to Nadal for both those slams as long as he remains fit.

that is some insane hitting from Nole..deserved winner...he is GOD MODE at the moment and no one can beat him.Rafa is still a chance to take revenge on a slower clay court next week, but i really wouldnt bet on it.Well done Nole, i have seen anyone play this level of tennis consistently EVER! Which goes to show what a lucky chappy federer was...took advantage of a weak generation to pile up his slam winnings.

Nole to sweep the clay season IMO..this is incredible tennis, i am in state of shock...Nadal was never really in the match, although the scores were level.Insane tennis from Nole- surely he cant keep it up? (i hope he does but this is crazy shit)

Sure you do. Pretend like you're a fan of both, but I bet you're getting sick of these losses already, aren't you? 3 Masters finals in a row? Ouch.

i am a Nole fan as well, i have mentioned it many times here, read my other thread, i am not disappointed at all...cause Nole is in God mode at the moment. Everyone here knows Nole is my 2nd favourite. Hows federer going btw? time is running out for olderer...but hey lucky to pile up 16 slams in a piss weak era... gee...

Sounds like it was a great match, unfortunately I had to go to uni today so I couldn't stay up and find a stream or a live score. FO will be very very interesting this year, Novak has made a few SF (I think) previously so obviously he can play on the RG clay.

I'll just get through all the Federer bashing and say how well Nole is playing. Just so clean, the backhand was the unstoppable weapon, he can hit the shot basically when he wants. He looked a little sluggish in that semi final against Bellucci but that was another effort. I think Rafa will still get him in Rome or RG but Nole is going to be no.1 later if he keeps this up.

The surface is playing worse than most of the local clubs I play at...

That was incredible. Wow. What a performance by Novak.

I don’t think I’ve ever see someone play with this much confidence, there’s just no sign of any doubt. He’s always had this talent but he never had this mental toughness, he would always be susceptible to crumbling under any sign of real pressure. Nothing bothers him these days, he misses a shot and instead of getting down he’ll use it as motivation to play even better. No one has got off to a start like this in a long, long time. Where in May and he’s still undefeated, and that’s by playing the AO, IW, Miami and Madrid. Incredible streak.

As for the game, Novak was just totally in the zone all day. The first four games where some of the cleanest hitting I’ve ever seen. He was reeling off winner after winner. I’ve never seen someone so confident in their game and someone who believes they can beat Nadal as much as Novak does. As I said, nothing bothers him out there; he’s got total faith in his game, and why wouldn’t he? His backhand is out of this world; his return of serve is amazing and gives him the constant threat of breaking. He’s always been my favourite player to watch, and he’s taken that to another level this year. He was just ultra aggressive today, such clean ball striking, hit with great depth, lots of angle, he was pretty much faultless. Phenomenal. :thumbsu:

For Nadal and his match up with Djokovich, he really could do with tweaking his tactics.

He was going far too much to his backhand cross court and it was coming straight back at him, as soon as he started hitting a bit more to the forehand it looked a more equal battle.Hopefully uncle Toni will impress this upon him for when they next meet.

The second thing was in the rallies there wasn't too much difference between Djokovich's play when he was on the defensive or attacking, consistent clean fairly flat shots off either wing, contrasting with Nadal who was attempting to be the aggressor more of the time and would have the upper hand in a rally but as soon as he was on the back foot in the rally he tended to defend with big looping almost moon ball type shots and then Djok was all over him.

The other thing with Nadal is his serve, he pulls out that big one down the middle time after time on the big points but rarely utilises it apart from that, he could definitely make more use of it.And he could make more use of the wide serve to Djok's forehand as well and push him out wide at the start of the point like Belluci was.

Let's hope that they're in the final again this week, if Djokovich wins this time it will well and truly put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Although I suppose Nadal in 5 sets is still a different proposition again in the French.
