Federer played well but I will say this..Nadal needed a loss. Why you may ask? Well every time you win you are closer to a loss. Nadal has played poor throughout the clay season and had looked liked losing to Davedeko in Rome, Hewitt in Hamburg, and eventually Federer beat him in Hamburg. Rafa needed a loss and IMO will be that much harder to beat now!

Or Federer has the belief to beat him on the crap now!

The only reason fed won cause rafa was out of gas. Face it, thats a fact. Although full credits to roger

Oh please, you were talking about Rafa taking feds number 1 ranking in a couple of weeks, and now you are using fatigue as an excuse, part of being the best player in the world is picking the right tourney's to play in.

And what does 'although full credits to roger mean' after you have put down a 6-0 deciding set against your king dick down to fatigue.

And another thing!

You cant just make such a small issue out of the fact that there are 4 legitimate grass court events (maybe less) compared to the multitude of clay events. Imagine if it was the other way around, imagine how far ahead of everyone Roger would be then.

Fact: Roger Federer is the world number 1
Fact:Grass is his best surface
Fact: Grass is the least played on surface

Yet he is still the World Number 1.

You say no one else could have a streak like rafas 81 on clay...Yet federer is 48 not out on grass...and if they played the amount of tournements on grass as they do clay, he would probably be up there aswell!

You and drummond are blinded by eachothers Bum cheeks.

Making some good points there Syd

Excuse? he was forced to play hamburg due to the damn tournament organisers, who threatened to fine him if he pulled out  , before the rome final he said he was mentally and physically exhausted  How about doing some research before jumping the gun?

Cause that was valid. Even hewitt pushed him all the way, what does that say? i have never seen rafa play so bad on clay, it was almost watching an unforced error fest. Roger didnt win it, rafa lost it and that my friend is a FACT

But since there is not, lets not speculate. Dont forget rafa made the wimbledon finals last year as well, he is no rabbit on grass court plus rafa has actually started to perform very well on hardcourts.

yep come back after 33 more wins and we can talk

TP Syd is right.

Grass is Feds best surface. There are NO Masters events on it.

Clay is Rafa's best surface. There are 3 masters events on it with a total of 1,500 ranking points going if you win them.

It is beyond reasonable doubt that if these figures were reversed Fed's still huge lead in points would be even greater. That is as near to being a sporting certainty as you will get.

Look at Rafa off the clay. Good but not great. Look at Fed off the grass. 6 slams and World No.1.

One is a great player. The other is a very good one.

So blame the ATP. Why blame it on Rafa? let me tell you one thing, Rafa is very very good on hardcourts as well and he is improving everyday. The only surface where roger has the real edge is GRASSCOURT. Last year on wimbledon finals, rafa was serving for a 2 set to 1 lead where he choked (doube faulted 3 times). He has improved his game a lot and in the coming years he will surprise you

.

What the???? taking rafas 2400 points off clay he is still number 2 in the world even if you discard Rafas clay points

I admit he is not upto federers level but again, who is?? he is the undisputed number 2 player in the world on non clay surfaces

No.2s don't get to be called great TP. Even some No.1s such as Hewitt don't get to be called great. Guys with numerous majors and long runs at no.1 such as Connors, Borg, Federer get to be called great. What Rafa gets toi be caalled is very good. no shame in that.

I am not blaming him for the unequal mix of grass and clay masters though he did have conniptions when Monte was threatened. I'm simply noting its unargued relevance.

Federer will drop off soon, rafa is still only 20..he still has time. Fed is 5 years older than him. Once fed drops off, rafa will dominate with shit youngsters like gasquet, monfils etc

One name... Djokovic.

Also, Agassi was a very good player in his 30s, and if Roger is still motivated then I imagine he can be as well. Not as dominant as he currently is, but he'll hardly drop off the face of the Earth if he still has the desire to play.
