If declining is making the last 4 Grand Slam finals then sign me up. I think 'relative' decline is where he is at rather than 'Decline'. When it comes to Slams, he is still in the top 2.

.
I have posted it here and i will say it again, he will not be able to beat murray, nole or rafa in slams any longer, unless they play shit tennis or he plays out of his skin. All of them have gone past federer.I am sure you will agree. If the draw is kind enough or it opens up, he has a chance..but now it seems like even mediocre players are catching up with him.

Results from last night:
Djokovic def. Verdasco 6-2, 4-6, 6-3
Wawrinka def. Beck 6-2, 6-4
Nadal def. Ljubicic 6-3, 6-3
Murray def. Davydenko 7-6, 6-4

Verdasco hit something like 9 winners to 50 ue's. Only saw the 3rd set of that, Djokovic is looking a bit better this week, he's adjusted to the clay well.

Nothing to write home about in the enxt two matches, Beck has a big forehand but really isn't consiant enough and his movement was found out a bit. While, Ljubo played well up to 3-3 before the errors started to come and Nadal got on top.

Davydenko and Murray was a very interesting match. A lot of long rallies with Davydenko not showing many signs of rustiness. I know a lot of people call Davydenko boring but I like his game, he's one of the cleanest hitters on tour. Did play poorly on the big points which cost him, he actually had a 4-1 lead. Murray did what he needed to do, change the pace like he enjoys doing etc. Funny ending to the match involving umpire Fergus Murphy and Murray and a line call, the ball was out anyway.

Should be a Nadal/Djokovic final i think, Wawrinks might be able to get close to Djoko if he keeps playing the way he has been this week.

Agree, and it causes me grief. I thought Federer was the most complete champion I have ever seen in all sports, but his demise seems so rapid and painful to watch. I was almost embarrassed watching Nadal massacre him at the French 08, and watching his response to losing the Aus open was similar. If he was older than 26/27 it would be easier to accept, as Sampras and Agassi were still winning into their 30's. Now I can't watch him as mentally he seems so fragile, let alone not having the physical ability to match Nadal, Murray, and Djokovic. Yes sadly as I felt in early 08, Federer is FINISHED. When he said "thank God the hardcourt series has finished"' a surface he has always dominated, that says it all. It's not as if he has any greater luck on clay!

Djokovic def. Wawrinka 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Djokovic is improving as each tournament goes it seems, it was a rather slack service game in the first set that cost him. Wawrinka was tryign to be the argessiver but he ended up making more errors. Apart from a break early in the 3rd for Stan it was fairly one way traffic for Djoko. He's still going to get killed by Nadal

Nadal def. Murray 6-2, 7-6. It shouldn't take a set and a half for Murray to realise that being agressive against Nadal is the only way for a chance to win, just rallying a couple metres behind the baseline with some of your moonballs isn't going to cut it. Murray came back from 5-2, saved a mp and got it to a TB and Nadal had to pull out his best tennis of the week in that TB to win. Wonder if Murray will be a bit more argessive next time they play on clay, i would think they might face each other at least ocne mroe time before this clays eason is out.

Final is on at 10pm, Nadal will something like 6-4, 6-3.

Geez, if Murray can replicate some of the tennis he played in that second set against Nadal - he may well be a threat to him at the French.

Nadal won 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Djoko is back to the kind of form that we know of him, Rafa might of fell away in the second set but it was nice to see the clean agressive tennis from Djoko. It was the first 3 games that broke him in the end, lasting 40 minutes, Nadal broke straight back after that and never looked back.

Going back to the Federer/Wawrinka game, it’s pretty clear that Federer is a shadow of his former self. He said the loss is good for him and it will let him study his game on clay and work on improving his forehand on the surface. In all honesty though how is he suddenly going to improve? He’s making error after error and he’s not missing by small margins, he’s missing by a mile. Go back a few years and he just wouldn’t miss, he would dominate from the baseline and he would make so few errors each set.

Wawrinka dominated the match and if he wasn’t a choke artist he would’ve comprehensively won. He won in straight sets but it was a lot closer than it should’ve been. On break points he was something like 3/17 and he would always make really poor, unforgiveable errors. Full credit though to Wawrinka though so I thought would always struggle to beat his countryman and good mate but it’s a good indication of where Federer is at. He’ll hit a few stunning winners every now and then and make you wonder why he can’t produce that kind of tennis all the time but I put it down to a few things. How is he mentally? All the young guys fear him less these days and whenever they step on court they’re confident they have what it takes to beat him. The big three of Nadal, Murray and Djokovic are all improving at such a rapid rate, excluding maybe Djokovic although he had a brilliant tournament and looked to be back to his best. I really think constantly losing to these guys have really dented his confidence because he knows they’re all at the top of their games while he’s not at his. It must be hard to know you’re so close to the record of Slams only to be seemingly so far away because of the aforementioned players. And lastly Federer’s is movement isn’t quite as good as it was and therefore he’s not getting to the ball and subsequently making a lot of errors. Surely this years French Open is where the SF streak ends? Although in saying that no one seems to be able to beat him over 5 sets at the Slams, no one other than the top guns have the sticking power.

This tournament saw a noticeable improvement in Andy Murray on the clay. Even from the first game to his eventual demise his movement on the clay, in particular his ability to slide improved out of sight. As I said in my preview, I honestly think his game suits the clay and if he got the movement sorted out he could be a damaging player. The French Open will be a big test for Murray for us to gain an understanding of how much he has improved.

Novak Djokovic is an absolute gun on clay, good to see him returning to some great form. His confidence levels seemed to be higher than at any stage of the year and as a result his great strengths seemed to be returning. I rate his defensive game up there with the best on tour as his ability to remain in the rally is incredible. And his ability to win clean winners came flowing back too, especially from his beautiful backhand. Look at the 15-30 point against Wawrinka for an example of this. I made the point of how well he was playing in his opening match here and even upon reflection I don’t think I was going overboard, he had a great week. Really excited to see Novak back in form, hopefully it can continue.

Oh and I haven't even seen the final yet. :D I unfortunately had a lapse in concentration tonight and found out the result.
