Attending the Draft

Does anyone know if the general public are allowed to attend the Draft?

I'll be in Melbourne over the weekend, staying in the Docklands area (about 5 misn from the TD I think). The guys I'm staying with are all late riser's, so I wouldnt mind wandering down and catching some of it if possible.

It would ruin the inviting of the best players, as then all the victorian players within the vicinity would come down and watch...

If anyone wants to watch it live the essendon website will be running T.V coverage, however most of it will be skewed towards Essendons picks. Still better than listening on the radio i'd imagine.

Bingo Rohan. The last few years have been pretty predictable with most people in attendance fairly sure of what will happen in Round 1. That wont be the case this year.

The Afl always have a live telecast of it with bigpond which is great.
Fox sports 1 at 5pm will also have a review of the draft.

Especially when you consider the amount of footage on YouTube and BigPond this year....wont be seeing anything new either.

It's almost getting to the point where instead of fluff pieces for this one hour highlight show you can get someone in to actually analyse the selections.

If Sydney select Suban, instead of talking about all of his positive qualities (which he does have - don't tell LH15 I said that because I like to wind him up) you could get into their selection process because he's excess to their needs.

The general public are equipped with knowledge more than ever now, so there doesn't seem to be much point in pissing in the pocket of fans. The only thing it currently serves is to give fans hope and show that Shifter is doing a good job. I'm not saying he's doing a bad job at all, but a bit of critical analysis of the pick wouldn't go astray (I understand that it's not his place to do that, so get someone else in too). Let's face it, this year I reckon fans will have a better chance at making up their own mind rather than the same old "EVERYONE WINS!"
