Australia's next hitout is against England on May 27th, at Sunderland's the Stadium of Light.
It's been a long 13 year wait since we last played the old enemy, with the last encounter being one of my favorite ever Socceroo performances; Kewell near his prime running rings around Rio Ferdinand.
I wouldn't have been looking forward to this fixture 12-24 months ago. But I think there's a genuine case for optimism in the Socceroo camp. We've certainly had some young players develop rapidly in the past 12 months and certainly more than a few are underrated currently in where they are playing their club football, to where they may be in 12 months.
