Soft spot for Brisbane
Okay, so we're in the middle of the Big Bash and we've shown our dominance in the Ashes.

So I might risk this board's wrath by discussing international T20.

Surely the Poms will pants us here - Hales, Bopara, Wright, Morgan, etc.

But who would be your T20 squad?

David Warner
Shane Watson
Nic Maddinson
George Bailey
Steve Smith
Glenn Maxwell
Mitchell Marsh
Matthew Wade
James Faulkner
Nathan Coulter Nile
Brad Hogg

Maybe too similar to the test side?

I suspect that the fact that the Scorchers have picked up Yasir Arafat instead of a batsman suggests that Coulter-Nile will be in the frame for limited overs cricket this summer.

Isn't Haddin keeper in all forms? Though would be unlikely to play considering how close these matches are to the first SA Test.

Finch
Warner
Watson
Maddinson
Bailey
Maxwell/Henriques/M.Marsh
Haddin
Faulkner
Johnson
Coulter-Nile
Doherty

Can't really see anyone in italics play other than the Cap due to Test preference. Probably a more realistic squad (to play):

Finch
Maddinson
Ferguson (Or Top BBL performer)
Bailey
Maxwell
Henriques
Wade/Paine
Cutting
Coulter-Nile
Hazlewood
Doherty

Agree with most of the above selections. Beer as the spinner please.

We've had a strong history of playing out and out quicks with our batsmen combining for that 5th spin bowling allotment of 4 overs.

Think Adam Voges, Steve Smith, Brad Hodge, Dave Hussey, Glenn Maxwell who have done this for us in the past.

That'll probably continue, but I think you'd be able to squeeze a genuine spinner in. You don't need as much batting depth in T20.

In the 12 T20 games Matthew Wade has been listened to bat 7 or lower in, he has faced an average of 4 deliveries per game. He didn't even bat in four of those games. I remind you, Wade is not a good keeper. And Australia's best T20 bowling attack features Johnson, Starc and probably Faulkner.......

Yeah, good call :thumbsu:

I would have thought that, as handy as our bowling batsmen are, a genuine T20I spinner is worth it's weight in gold.

Looking at the top 10 T20I bowling rankings are, only 4 of them are quicks;

1. Sunil Narine
2. Saeed Ajmaal
3. Mohamed Hafeez
4. Ajantha Mendis
5. Steve Finn
6. Jade Dernbach
7. Lonwabo Tsotsobe
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Nuwan Kulasekera
10. Shakib Al Hasan

F***ing lol

At full strength I would imagine something similar to this:
David Warner
Aaron Finch
Shaun Marsh
Mitchell Marsh
George Bailey
Glenn Maxwell
Brad Haddin
James Faulkner
Ben Cutting
Mitchell Johnson
Xavier Doherty

That team is pretty good if you ask me (well it should be seeming I picked it), provides everything and a long tail.

Doubt Mitch Marsh would bat at 4! As good as he may end up being, 5, 6, 7 will probably be his place.

sorry starc you've only taken 73 wickets in 43 T20 games we're gonna pick ben cutting

I am a big limited over Starc fan but as Torz said I have no clue as to when he will be fit, I would be more than happy for him to play over any of the selected bowlers. The World T20 is relatively early next year I believe so not sure as to whether he will be fit enough by then.

Would be wasted down there. Bats like his brother, takes some time to get in then can go with it, as we saw in the Scorchers/Heat game.

Don't know why people are leaving Watson out. First picked IMO.

Great call. Mitch Marsh at around 4 is the go long term.

I'd considering opening with him instead of Katich as an experiment with the Scorchers

I wouldn't, 3 or 4 would be the go for me. Preferably 4.

Irrelevant anyway because they aren't going to drop Katich.
