B: H. Shaw - Prestigiacomo - Maxwell
HB: Johnson - Brown - O'Brien

H. Shaw: In the past few years the football world has viewed Heath as the complete small defender. However necessity being so… Heath in my books is a failure. He hasn't proven to Malthouse that he is capable of a midfield role - hence not being used, and becoming complacent in defence.

Prestigiacomo: Let’s face it his career looks finished. Fit he would have helped Collingwood immeasurably; however his body is telling him no. This leaves Collingwood with only one key-back in Nathan Brown – which is not good.

Maxwell: Is courage, and nothing else. No skill with the footy; no run out of the backline; and no smarts. To continue with him is very much a mediocre mind-set by the club.

Johnson: This season should have been his big-one. Moving out of half-back and playing in the middle; giving Collingwood the running link player it needs. However, with his horrible attitude and off-field stupidity – he should be given the ass.

Brown: The hope of our future backline. Has it all, but has no help. Will be a champion; but let us hope one-day he will have the required allies to help him hold the defence together.

O'Brien: Has everything to become a polished tall half-back. Gives run, has courage and a strong desire to succeed. With Brown, they will both become the starting points to a new backline. However, two solid back-men from six, is a bad start.

Re: Heater - May be wrong but didn't he have one of the best goals against per game record last year or in 06? Might be better suited to shutting down an important small than to getting tagged out of the game as a rebounding defender. I see Clarke as a player who will be able to rebound effectively.

Anthony and Goldsack are not key position

Anthony is KP played full back in the VFL all year. I think between he, Harry O and Brown There is a match up for every player type. Harry O all the athletic types, his leap allows him to play on taller types like Lucas. Brown to play on the big power fowards and JA taking the second of the bigger fowards. In cases where there is not match ups for all of them Harry can always go to a small as he is very versatile.
