Back up ruckman now?

Gardi's only just turned 30 I think?

He's got at least 1 year, if not 3-4 if his body holds up.

King, maybe 2 years max.

Macca will be ready when King retires, and hopefully Stanley when Gardi retires.

I dont wanna bring it up to seem cocky, but if we do win the flag, they could both retire?

King would, reckon Gardi would wanna keep playing though.

You guys should be laughing, I am sure Geelong is much more worried about your ruck stocks than you guys should be at the moment.
Gardiner is in the best form he has been in in the last 5+ years, he looks fit and hungry. He may not get the touches a ruckman like Cox gets, but he is a strong physical presence, and if he can get back to what he was doing in the first 5 rounds of the year and consistently kick goals he becomes a real weapon for you guys. Imagine how much you could stretch a defence with a resting Gardiner playing as a "3rd tall" in the forward line? The guy is yet to turn 30, and should injuries permiting have at least another three seasons in him

King turns 31 this year, he is another strong bodied ruckman who creates a presence on the field for you guys. He turns 31 this year, and while he may only have 1 possibly 2 seasons left in him, his output as your backup ruckman this year has been outstanding, and will be vital in your push for a premiership this year and next.

McEvoy is yet to turn 20, and has played four games of senior football. He is developing very nicely especially for a ruckman, and does not look like a bean pole, this guy will be super for youse in the years to come. And if Gardiner can hold his own for the next 3 seasons, McEvoy will be around 24 in his first season of being your number 1, and will be ready to take the competition on.

I dont know much about the rest of your ruckman, as I am an outsider looking in, but as an oposition supporter, your ruck stock and depth is something many clubs would envy

Haha nice post mate.

We turned it around pretty quick eh?

Be interested to see who we had rucking in R22 2007...

Since then we've acquired King, McEvoy and Stanley, and Gardi's basically been recruited since then cos he didnt play before that.

Guys, sorry to ask here but I could not find a DT thread here.......anyways, I am struggling in the Ruck Department and don't have a lot of Cash to spend, would you recommend Jason Blake? Do you think he'll play out the rest of the season?

Or would I be safer going for Mark Jamar from Melbourne?

Appreciate ALL responses :)
Dude, if I was looking for a good cheap option, I'd probably go Vickery from the Tiges. He's not going to score huge, but he will be guaranteed to play nearly every game for the coming year and will be uber-cheap. His value should skyrocket over the next four or five weeks. I've had Blake before, and it's just agonising and expensive. Don't get Kosi - nightmare. He's in my forward line, and will probably be dumped on the bench come next round - he's already lost about $35,000 in value this year, and I expect that will probably not go up much.

Yeah was looking at Vickery since we got a game!

What makes you think he will play the rest of the Season though?

Who ELSE is there at Richmond as their second ruck, seriously? Simmonds?! If a newbie like Graham has become their premier ruck, then Richmond are obviously looking to the future (and given where they are at the moment, that totally makes sense...). Most of the young players who have made it onto the Richmond starting 22 have stayed there from that point on. Post will probably be the next one after Vickery. Tambling is doing a serious flush of the crap - and good on him.

Fair call that.....what about Graham then? Maybe I would be better of getting him instead of Vickery? He has already scored one DT score over 100. Anyways....here are my (Limited) options for my 2nd Ruck:
Kosi - If he comes down enough this week I may be able to grab him.
Jason Blake - Up & down but has 6 scores over 70 already.
Vickery - Cheap but will he play the whole season?
Graham - Has a few scores over 70 and should play the rest of the year.
Gardiner - Up & down score wise with no huge scores.
Brogan - Also up & down scores with nothing huge.

What Ruck should I go for guys?

Graham for the simple reason that Simmonds is pretty much gawn... He will play for the rest of the season, not withstanding injury, as the firts ruck looking at about 65-75%.

Pros: Alot of gametime, almost gaurenteed of the the season out in the AFL, can go foward and kick a goal. Gets a reaosnable amount of marks

Cons: His handball to kick ratio is epic

I already have Graham - he was an absolute bargain, but is now about $240G, so might be a bit expensive for you. Vickery is cheap, and I reckon he'll play all year. But yeah, Graham if you can.

McEvoy? He's probably going to play for the next three weeks - does he have the time to pull of a "Dawson" and supplant King, and what kind of performance would he have to pull off to do that?

Thanks Richo & P/Saint......Graham might be the go then.
He has a few weeks of going down in $$$ due to the injury game (Only scored 18)
That works well into my plan as I want to get him in a few weeks time which will be when he bottoms out ($ wise) - I am still onsidering Jason Blake as he has had a few scores of 80 or more which is appealing though ;)

Yeah I had Graham, dumped him for Tippet since he was a cash cow and a pretty good one at that but yeah, figured it'd be about time to trade him onyl because he got injured and would drop in price when he came back, otherwise I would have kept him.
