Thanks fellas, you guys put in a tough, four quarter effort and battled hard all night. You deserved the win and were just too good for us in the end.

Hopefully you guys make the finals again and are successful. And while you're at it, let's make a deal. Stenglein for Schammer. :) That kid is already a gun.

Anyway, congratulations on a good win.

Yep, there is no doubt the Dockers were too good tonight and probably should have won by more. A good free flowing game with plenty of good contests.

Is that 3 away wins in a row?

Well the chain was broken..Freo have won their first match against the crows at aami in something like 9 or 11 games?

Congrats Freo

Better luck next year Crows

Everyone seems to have knack in beating us in the close ones:

Dockers - 9 and 12 points
Saints - 15 points
Collingwood - 3 points
Carlton - 4 points
Sydney - 13 points

I knew we were doomed when it didn't become a blowout for us - ie 5 goals or more.

Hahahaha one thing I will say is that if we sign Craig up for three years we wont have stress about trying to trade FOR top 5 picks as we will be earning plenty of picks between 1 and 5 with three years of poor perfomances.

No thats his role for this year whilst gaining experiance and confidance for the younger players, And he is doing it with great skill.
Next year we should sit about the middle of the table and the year after we will be contenders.
tanking can be usefull in a lot more ways than one!!!!
Some of you guys are compleatly conned by the negitive hysteria that surrounds the club.
No body could fix Ayres errors in three weeks, and the obvious, correct move is to JUST (close score) lose as many games as possible.

FOOTNOTE: 4 weeks ago I was against Craig, 3 weeks ago I was willing to give him a chance, today I am a fan.

On the contrary, I put it to you that you and others have been completely conned by the sickeningly positive, overly optimistic fingers-in-our-ears and eyes shut hysteria that the crew at West Lakes had been spinning for so very long.

We've been crap for a long time now.

This horrific phase had been looming on the horizon for ages - but many people, fans, members and club employees alike - refused to believe that such a torrid era was possible for a club such as ours.

"We're a top four club"
"Our list isn't ageing"
"Our list is fine"
"Carey is fighting fit!"
"We were 2nd after round 19 last year and our list is practically the same! In fact it should be better with Stevens, Goodwin and Joe Bloggs fit!!"

I'm tired of the bullsh1t - and the current predicament the club finds itself in will only get worse. Nothing to do with negativity, everything to do with reality.

The only conning we have had is from the AFC, they focussed on quick fix recruiting and havent looked long term at the club and had this belief that there was no problems at the crows. They refused to believe that they need to blood some youth and persist with the same core group.

There is a lot of work to be done at the club, Trigg and co I dont believe see this and dont see the need for something new, but they obviously want to continue along the same path they have already been on hence why they are so keen on craig. Look at statements like we arent rebuilding its more like renovating and it speaks for itself.

That Trigg statement that we are not rebuilding but rather that we are renovating is one of the scariest bits of bullsh*t I've ever heard come out of a footy club.

If they genuinely believe that, we are doomed. It means that they have no appreciation of where the club is really at.

On the other hand, if they are only saying that to make their supporters feel better, then they are taking us for fools, as they usually do.

Which is why I am so suspicious about the club's real intentions with the coaching position.

Macca I agree with Trigg and Co 100%
Look at Melbourne last year - hopeless, this year top4. Whats changed, well a couple of new players in, couple of existing players go to the next level, less injuries and greater confidence.

We have a lot of injured players from our best 22. We've been unsettled for most of the year.
Get a couple of new players, less injuries and more confidence and I sincerely believe it is just a renovation job.

But WW, that's exactly what was said after last season's dismal fadeout and look where we are now. Remember these?:

"If Goodwin can stay fit and regains his AA form"
"If the McLeod of old can recapture his magic"
"If Bodey and Ladhams can recapture their 2002 form!"
"If Welshy, Carey and Stevo can stay fit for the duration..."

It's a dangerous mentality which lays the foundations for further mediocrity - because you have nowhere to go if players continue form slumps or stay on their sickbeds.

We need to rebuild rather than renovate - a lot of our list simply isn't up to the job of making finals, let alone winning them, because they simply do not have the talent nor the physical capabilities.

I understand what your saying, and agree with a lot of your comments.

Its not about accepting mediocrity, but good players and stars can also have "off" seasons.
1) nagging injuries you and I don't know they have.
2) personal issues.
3) disgreements with coach or how the coach wants that player to play his footy.

Its about, as we have argued;) , recognising the talent potential and getting them to play to their potential.
This is with the coach and the club.
But if anyone has played sport you will always have an "off" year , that doesn't mean you have lost the talent.
But if your slow, one-sided, too short, make dumb decisions ect - then recognise it and replace.

Heres an example, delisted players last year, recruited Krueger along with others, Krueger has hardly played?
All recruits we have this year could be a combination of Angwins and Kruegers - DT that aint going to help us one bit.

Look at the difference a fit Jeff White has made to Melbourne this year. 2003 recruits have had zero impact. The club did not have to go outside to get a dramatic improvement on the field.

Some of our young players will be far better next year.
Some of our retiree's / delisted players this year will have had minimal impact so they won't be missed.

? based on what.

Based on the desprate way the youngsters have been playing and its even sweeter that we have been losing at the same time.
I also like the way he has handled the press, ( direct but subtle ).
Some of the things that have been happening at training (at least from where i sit) look like everyone is enjoying themselves and in turn gel-ing as a unit.
just a bunch of small 1% type things that have turned my opinion.

Whenever you here that players are enjoying themselves somehow you know theres trouble ahead.
Don't ask me why, its just so.
