Pick 36 would be about right..geelong would want less and north more so about right with maybe some minor shuffling the other way.

I would want more than that if i am North, given the time and development they have put into him.

Depends if he is contracted or not. If he isn't, they probably will have to accept your proposal

You have to wonder how Geelong can fit all these blokes in they are supposed to be strongly linked to, not so much SC wise, but in terms of draft picks?
If he wants to go, if I am North I would play hardball and not settle for anything other than a pick in the late teens (15-19)

They won't get it, but worth taking that stance.

Because a lot of those guys we wont pay overs for in terms of picks and we will use futures where we need to.

I like scott but his player type is simply not one thats in demand enough to be worth a R1 (and we will be using ours in other trades anyway)
Once youre talking mid to late r2 thats where he sits imo.

Worth more to the original club situation. Cats wouldn’t want to pay more than something in the late 30s and north would want something in the early 20s given his age and rate of improvement this year.

Expected to stay, but definitely a possibility to leave still.

Runs all day, high on repeat sprints, decent leg speed, but not express, can lockdown, versatile, neat kick and fairly creative by foot. Averages about 18 disposals on a wing in a s**t side. Natural winger for mine.

One thing i will say is we have a few wingers already. So its an odd career choice for bailey unless hes planning to play a different role (there will be room for him in the 22 with all our retirements but i dont think it will be on the wing).

Probably fair enough.

Reckon what Freo paid for Jordan Clark would be around the mark if he is still contracted (which btw is now looking like bit of a bargain for Freo, he has really surprised and impressed me there)

Could play hbf, but yea, it’s seems a weird rumour.

Seems a Menegola replacement but 2 years too early?

Yeah wing wont open up til smith and menegola retire and even then thats probably holmes best position. I wonder if they are planning on using him as a running defender? Our defensive group bar sdk are mostly older players and we could use that role more.

Look if he was contracted id definitely say a late r1/early r2 like clark but since hes ooc they wont get that (we wouldnt have got more than a late r2 for clark if he was uncontracted)so i think a later r2 is about where it sits but ive been wrong before.

Geelong has one conversation with someone and it's all over the news. We're always linked to half the comp and pick up 2 players.

The only one that I think has serious legs at this point is probably hopper

Bruhn will go to GFC too, I am very certain about that. Probably all gets done with the Hopper deal I would say.

That run all day, versatile, accountable and neat player is right in Geelong's wheelhouse. We love guys like Close, O'Connor, Tuohy, etc that are similar. I thought he looked useful from what I've seen.

There will be wing spots opening up soon. Tuohy and Smith are near retirement and Holmes will move into the middle. I wouldn't be surprised if we encouraged Menegola to consider his options given he's not clearly best 22, we need to give young players exposure and he could get a good 2-3 year contract elsewhere.

I'd be happy to get him if it only costs a pick in the 30s.

By then I'd like to see Holmes transitioning to full time on baller but then we'll want to see Dempsey and Knevitt coming through there

Would North be interested in someone like Ratugolea? Definitely no superstar, but could stop-gap as either forward/ruck or as a KPD until they develop or trade in better options.

Perhaps if Pick 36 is seen as unders, 36 + Esava might be getting a bit closer to it.
Bit of a guessing game re interest due to Clarko.

North may even prefer to take the punt on our FR2

Seems really odd to me that a player would choose North over Geelong as a FS, then turn around a few years later and ask for a trade to Geelong after just establishing himself as a best 22 player. Does he have family and friends down the highway? It can't be a money thing either. Bizarre

He mostly grew up in Queensland didn't he? I think the most he's had to do with us is a few training runs when he was still deciding

My only thought is he realised that maybe he realised he prefers our position compared to NMFC.

Quite possibly but our clubs respective positions haven't changed drastically over that period haha

It could be that he always intended to play for North until he finished his degree and then would move after that if North hadn't shown improvement.

Have you got anyone with a couple of years of good footy left in them with good leadership? I think this is what Clarko is after. Does a late second rounder move the needle for us? Not at all but given we don't have any 2nd or 3rd round picks at the moment maybe North would take pick 36 or some variation of it.
