Not sure, maybe only a couple of weeks. Devils could have upwards of 10 players out for the first few weeks through injury and suspension.

The game will be at Maddingley Park on Friday. Seniors starting at 2.15pm. Apparently South's ground isnt quite up to scratch yet either.

Ask anyone who has played both and they'll tell u GFL is a far stronger comp than BFL. Granted some very good players getting about in Ballarat, but depth of teams and quality of the clubs lower on the ladders is far stronger in the GFL than the BFL. BFL clubs would struggle to make the 5 in GFL

May find out just how good bfl is this friday although ive got a dilema, it sounds like darley vs sth would be a pretty good match or do i go watch a game in ballarat and hit the tiles up in the rat on friday night

If you think that the 2002 to 2007 Redan sides or Sunbury's late 90s to mid 00s sides would struggle to make the 5 in GFL you are kidding yourself.
You are correct in saying the quality of teams lower on the ladder is stronger in the GFL.

That's hard though. Over the past 5 years Bacchus Marsh and especially Sebastopol have been rubbish.

Gee the boys at Suba that got them at 13/1 will be happy. They are now equal 2nd fav with Melton South at 4/1. Darley still fav at $2.75. 9/1 East Point 10/1 for Redan and Ballarat and 14/1 for Lakers.

Redan & Sunbury wouldn't have made finals in the GFL. If they snuck into finals would not have made an impact. GFL far superior. Fact is GFL, O&M and Goulburn Valley far above the others. Even the 4th and 5th best teams would have top sides in BFL covered.

Meh - Redan in 07 with Fields and Edwards were as good as any 2 on ballers in country Victoria. Agree with O&M and Gouldburn but the GFL is not at the same level as those 2. Your 5th best side would not have got close to Redan in 07.
You would have been one of those people who said the RDFL sides would not get close to the BFL sides when they joined the comp - "fact is BFL is far above the RDFL" - just because you say it is a fact does not make in one. It is fact/made up rubbish.

Darley play an annual practice match against Bell Park.
The year that Bell Park made the grand final the devils beat them by 5 goals in a praccy match and they finished the year 3rd last. Obviously players are missing from these games but for a 8th place team to beat a GFL grand finalist ruins your theory. Lowther, Grgic and a few other big names all played.
Darley lost to bell park last year by 100 points and we played in the GF whilst they missed the finals altogether.
This year the praccy match was 1 goal difference.
Until teams play for premiership points you cant say which is a better league. Agree with depth of the league but the BFL better sides would be very competitive.

sorry, poor choice of words. In my opinion those 3 leagues are better than the BFL. GFL one of the best interleague records going around. Help me out here, but didn't the last time the 4 of them play in that round robin thing a few years ago Ballarat got their pants pulled down by GFL before hitting the town mid-comp? Once again only my opinion, Very good players in all leagues
