Told you his disposal is terrible. Has been, is, and will always be.
It is not just his kicking it is his thought process. He does not think and use the first or best option. He just gets it (mind you he does get it heaps) and just gets rid of it usually to the opposition. Corrie is exactly the same. He is the most selfish player I have ever seen.
It is innate in him. A joke to even consider he should stay in. I know he got 28 poss. last week but nine clangers. This week 13 and 7. Send him back to the VFL and give another kid a go. We have many others just waiting.

Not to play that role though. We need a shutdown player and we need one badly IMO. It's probably coming down to three players at the moment - Barham, Cook and Toovey. I still think Toovey is better suited in defense on the medium forwards and I rate Barham's intensity over Cook.

Cook was in the best for the VFL side on the weekend so the change may be made and I would probably not be too disappointed if it is. Barham needs to know, and he probably does, that his kicking is sub-par and he needs to work on it. Cook can come in for Barham but Jaxson needs to be told that once he gets his kicking right he will come back in.

I'd be highly surprised if Cook overtakes him in that time. The other options are Francis and Rounds but Francis is still rookie listed and they appear to be playing Rounds off a forward flank at the moment.

You know what, if Beams, McCarthy etc...all turn out as good as we expect, I reckon we already have a player who would be tremendous in a shutdown role - Dane Swan.

Maybe but not for a while yet. We'd need a few more mids to stand up and it's too early to ask that of Beams and McCarthy. I still think Thomas is an option here as we need to get him more involved.

I'd try just about anything before recalling Cook TBH.

Well before the draft I heard Barham was a good ball getter but a poor user. On seeing him in the VFL last year that seemed to stack up. On his senior career to date, he cannot kick to acceptable AFL standard. It may only be 2 games in but the 2 games back up what was already evident anyway. He either very quickly improves his kicking or he will frustrate us until he is cut from the list. Rhyce Shaw and Ben Johnson are both great Collingwood people and could both be very good players but for kicking deficiencies. Barham is in the same boat. He has the ability to get he has the endeavour and nouse to defend and attack and he can run. Unfortunately it is rare for a player with poor kicking skills to get to the requisite level.

I reckon there is one chance for Barham. We need to tell him he has to get his kicking to a much higher standard, get someone like Daicos to work extensively with him and then don’t play him until there is significant improvement. If his career depends on it then he is more likely to get there. Not certain but more likely.

While we are on the subject, it is too late for Leigh Brown and the mistake of his recruitment should at least be consigned to the VFL side. The bloke is ordinary down back, a rubbish ruck option and can’t kick. I’d rather have Reid or Dawes make mistakes and possibly learn along the way than play a tried and failed big body. Unless we are without Presti or Nathan Brown Leigh Brown serves no purpose.

Getting on the piss didn't help their causes either. Barham is undoubtedly an ordinary kick, but we ought to give him more time than 2 games before we can him. He does have a lot of other valuable attributes.

Completely agree with this.

L.Brown's purpose IMO is as a forward line option. Can play high up the ground and the Rocca FF role. I'd almost prefer him over Rocca atm. However I suppose you'd rather risk a Rocca bad game and him get a good defender than L.Brown being completely obliberated. Rocca will always contest.

If Leigh Brown could kick we'd probably be 4-1 right now:p

As for Barham I like him better than Shaw. He seems to have a better ability to win the ball from a pack than Shaw ever did, more tenacity.
