I think Bartel was stiffed some pretty obvious votes in a few late games, but I don't think he was good enough this year to win it. His early season form was consistent, wasn't it, without actually being brilliant? I'm a fan, but I definitely thought his 2007 was better than his 2008.

GAblett obviously was, and without the rolled-ankle would have won.

That said, Cooney was a very deserving winner, and could himself play the injury-card, playing the last month+ hurt.

Regardless, you boys have the one that matters on Saturday, and that's worth more to all of 'em than any individual thing (though you could see how much Gazza wanted it...).

Jimmy had 7 games where he had over 30 possessions and did not poll 1 vote in any of them, and another 3 with 27 or more and didnt poll. Thats 10 games with 27 or more touches for no votes, and in 7 of those 10 he was a goal kicker. Absolute bullsh1t!!!!!!

I think that after last year Jimmy Bartel will be looked at like G Ablett1. Ablett could kick a bag of goals and it would be considered par for the course.

Personally, I did not think that GA2 would win it with so many Cat players in the centre taking votes. Corey, Selwood, Bartel...

I actually thought that Boomer Harvey would win it and he polled crap.
I am not unhappy about Cooney winning it. He is a good hard working player.

OK everyone, take a deep breath....

Lighten up! Consider the following:

• Be glad Geelong has so many good players that they take votes off each other (who else did Black or Cooney have in the midfield to take votes off him? Certainly not the number of quality mids that Geelong has - 4 mids in the top 10!)
• Possessions doesn't equal best player - just ask the Byrnes-baggers.
• Best player awards are always debateable - go and have a look at the variety of votes given on BF. Sometimes a player plays so well that there is very little doubt as to who was best but most of the time (especially with Geelong) there are lots of players who have played well. I know I've had to think long and hard before giving my votes some weeks.
• Any best player award is flawed in some way, including the Brownlow. Eg: why does the best player get 3 times the number of votes as the third best player and why does the fourth best player get nothing? I'm not saying it should be changed but every system has a bias.

That said.... how the %&*@#$ did Goodes get 2 votes against us when Ling smashed him?

I'm not disappointed at all that Jnr.,Bartell etc.. didn't win this thing. To me the brownlow is practically worthless, this has been blatantly obvious for a very long time. The multi-colored maggots have no effing idea about football. If I were on Jnr. or Bartel shoes I'd take as compliment not to be recognized by such incompetent imbeciles. Everything about it is one big meaningless joke.

yeh ill give you that for the geelong game i was there and he was pretty shocking although he only got 14 touches and like 63% effeiciency or something he did some tricky things infront of the umps face, but yes i was clueless to that. If you watched any sydney game he single handedly won 4-5 games for us hence the votes
