There is a rather heated thread currently elsewhere on Big Footy where the OP states that Judd is not a top 10 player based on recent performance.

I have to say I agree completely.

The thread however has been tied up and confused with reference to Sheehans hypothetical Top 50.

So forget that right now. Quite obviously he has been a superstar of the game and his trade to Carlton was of huge benefit to that club and it's youngsters. And I accept that at only 25 he could recreate that awesome footballer of 05,06 and the start of 07.

But right now I can think of plenty of players who have outperformed him in the last 24 months

Should have made the poll options:

Yes he is (I'm a carlton supporter)
No he isn't (I'm a carlton supporter)

Yes he is (I don't go for carlton)
No he isn't (I don't go for carlton)

would be a better representation of results

Maybe they would care to discuss which of the following players Judd has outperformed -

Ablett, Bartel, Cox, Richardson, Harvey, Pavlich, Scarlett, Corey, Riewoldt, J Brown, Cooney.

For starters.

I appreciate the way he reinvented himself as a player to help out Carlton. It's why I rate Richo so highly as well. Being able to adapt.

And God help me, he still lead the league in something and 3rd in another. I forget which ones.

Still top 10.

If you said top 3 or 5, then I'd have to think about it.

^^
I think he came 2nd in total contested possessions and 3rd in average contested possessions, but I don't think he led the league in anything.

I'd have to have him 10-15, Selwood, Bartel, Riewoldt, Cox, Hodge, Frankin, Ablett, Cooney, all are ahead of him.

I disagree, I think he is. Selwood's a better assist player, gets more possessions, is just as good at the clearances and now that he's kicking goals, he's looking the goods. I don't know why anybody would have Judd ahead of him.

Of course he is.

What a ridiculous thread.

22 say yes. 20 say no.

Just under 50% of voters reckon Judd currently is not in the AFL's top 10.

I say Ablett, Bartel and Harvey are three whom have dominated the AFL at Judd's position.

Corey has been an AA in both seasons and won a B&F in one of the most dominant home and away teams ever. I think he's led these clearance stats that people keep talking of both seasons as well.

Scarlett has been AA twice as well and outstanding in two Grand Finals.

Cox is twice AA and a B&F has played a lone hand while entrenching his reputation as one of the 5 top ruckman ever.

Pavlich was an AA and B&F while being top 5 in goals both seasons despite playing often in the midfield.

Brown - AA, Coleman and B&F.

Richardson was just about the best player in the AFL last season on a wing and won a B&F the year before at CHF.

Those are nine players who I honestly don't think, on 24 months of football, you can rate behind Judd.

A case can be made for Judd over Riewoldt and Cooney but I think they have both been better as well.

I could include a couple of Hawks but I'm giving an unbiased opinion here so I'm leaving them out for now.

Selwood is quite quickly becoming the most over-rated player in the comp.
Sure he's a good kid, but lets not blow out loads over a solid few seasons( where he was still Geelongs 3-4th best midfielder) and some good NAB cup games.
He's a long way behind Judd.....a long long way.

Of course you do!!! Obsessed much?? Of course you are!

How many of those would vote the same if he was still playing for West Coast? My guess is not many!

It's relatively easy to compare Judd and Selwood, they're both clearance midfielders with high assist rates and can kick goals. Selwood to me is the better assist player, gets more of the ball and has now added goalkicking to his game. I have to rate him ahead of Judd.

14 touches in the last quarter in round four (26 touches total) without a full pre-season and not feeling 100% until round 17.

You should vote no.
Against Collingwood? Who was playing on him, or does Mick apply the same rule of thumb to Judd as he does Sam Mitchell? Just let em run free.

no i dont believe he is
he might be crucial to his teams success but in terms of supercoach he is over priced for his scores

based on the last 2 years no he isn't maybe he can get back who knows but in the last to years i can think of atleast 10 players who have performed better if not more.
