He is to Dennis Cometti as Josh Bootsma is to Dustin Martin. And I don't mean prime Dennis but the bored Dennis who was clearly phoning in his last couple of years in the commentary box mechanically ticking off the scripted catchphrases as they presented themselves.

Big Bas was back to his worst yesterday during the IR...
When Dangerfield was trying to cool down on the beach yesterday and was standing next to a huge blow fan - Bas says “and who says Dangerfield doesn’t haven’t any fans left in Adelaide....” groans could be heard in the background ....

Classic Baz. Mind you, at least that one was reasonably spur of the moment rather than something he obviously decided during the week that he was going to say.

Plus even if one did watch, Basil is only really a marginal downgrade on Kochie anyway.
 
Why does basil continue to lie in his commentary as the vision shown is completely different to what he says? Is he actually at the ground live?

Like a minute to go and he still was claiming that there was plenty of time for Ireland to win not only the game but the overall series when it was painfully obvious that mathematically the result was iced.

Watch him at the end of the Eagles Bulldogs game earlier this year. Still saying the dogs can win it when they're 7 points down with 20 seconds to go and they don't have the ball. The other commentators are laughing at him at the end. I don't know if he can't count or is trying to make it seem more exciting in some odd way. It's very strange.

All commentators do it. But Basil makes u question yourself about what u see, it's distracting and is the first thing commentators shouldn't do. He would be a great fit for breakfast tv, it's a given your telling lies.

The best thing about that pic is no Luke Darcy.

I find Basil inoffensive, whereas Darcy is just a complete and utter bellend.

When you move house Basil is the neighbour you still send Christmas cards to, just don't encourage visits, whereas Darcy is the neighbour whose house you firebomb as you you drive away.
