He blitzed it for Casey in the midfield this year, runnner up with 15 votes, miles of first (Valenti) but still a good effort!

Does he stay on the Melbourne list? I want him to have 1 more year with some AFL chances.

He's contracted until the end of 2012, give him a chance I say :D

touché my friend.

Haha. That said congrats to Master shouldn't downplay an achievement I could never achieve too much!

He looked good against Port last round, but probably too little too late. Dogs were interested in him last year and I wouldn't be surprised if they or someone else get him on the cheap...

Seems to have moved into the midfield in the last few weeks and be playing really well, going by the Casey reports. Are we likely to play him there? He's not exactly the big body we really need, even if he does compete really hard.

That's where he excels, wing or something? He doesn't thrive in the forward line.

Well, he wasn't getting used in the forward line, at least at senior level. Week after week they'd bomb it over his head.

I think Kelly O'Donnell, who's the development coach, might have got into his ear about changing his position. He's the one who suggested Petterd spend a bit of time in the middle to increase his defensive work, and that Garland play in the backline.

Nothing wrong with being an excellent VFL player, but that doesn't necessarily mean you will be a good AFL player.

I've always said he was unfortunate not to come along 5 years earlier. I think if he had of been able to come out of the square in a team with good delivery, he could have been a good AFL stay-at-home forward (good lead, good hands, good set shot). But today's AFL game requires the kind of multi-faceted skillset that he just doesn't have.

I actually think he could be a solid contributor in a better team than ours (ie a fringe Finals team with a midfield that delivers better, and more frequently than Melbourne's), hopefully he gets a chance somewhere else if he's not at the Dees next year.

Didn't he win the Morrish Medal in the TAC playing midfield?

Yeah pretty sure he dominated U18s, hence why we got him in the first round.

And yes he's contracted next year... We'll still shop him around I reckon.

Congrats to the Bater, I think a new coach will get more from him. Bails had written him off this year once Howe came along.

As mentioned he's moved into the midfield late in the year and I noticed hiim playing a role as a "blocker" in centre bounces a couple of times vs Port. Could he potentially play the Cam Ling role in the midfield possibly? I think there's more resemblance than just the red hair.

Jeez, second Liston for Valenti in a row. Heck of a VFL player.

And what a side to boot, they're so dominant!
