Arcade fire - Win has confirmed they'll be touring Australia and New Zealand this summer. A stand alone tour would be unlikely and they're not on the Falls line up

From the rumours I've seen so far I have just about ruled out the BDO next year. Been to every one since 06, can see it being rather shit.

Looks like Soundwave might get a run this year. Although it's not particulary strong either.

Confirmed:
Die Antwoord
Mark Ronson

Almost certain:
Arcade Fire
Kings of Leon
Soundgarden
Stone Temple Pilots

Possible:
Phoenix (BDO usually get one or two of the foreign 'now' bands, I do like them though)
Birds Of Tokyo

Gorrilaz will headline Good Vibes.

Sorry pet hate people putting the in front of band names. Just Wolf Parade. I recall hearing Dan from the band saying they are coming to Aus but would prefer to do club shows and not festival. Hope thats true, would hate to see them at a festival.

wolf parade would be great at laneway

Soundgarden are far too good for the BDO crowd who mostly do not actually go to see music, but rather to say they went to BDO.

I sound like an old geezer but Soundgarden headlined two BDO back in the 90s including the one that was meant to be the last one.

would be pissed if wolf parade played BDO...hopefully they just do club shows.

i know foals are coming to aus early next year, so it's a possibility...but i think they'll be doing either laneway or club shows.

Soundgarden and STP might actually get me back to the BDO for once.

Either that or just go and catch the sideshows.

Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon & Pheonix would almost be worth the admission price itself. I am hoping for someone like Brandon Flowers to get named as well which would make my festival. I was expecting Soundgarden to tour for Soundwave but seeing as they aren't on the bill I can see them doing BDO.

Anyone think Bliss & Eso will be named as well? Number one Australian album and currently touring. (I'm not a massive fan just think they will get named)

i really hope not.

I know that, BDO is a lot different these days though.
People gomjust to get drunk and say they were at BDO and a lot of people who really want to see some of the acts miss out cis it sells out in a couple of minutes.

I would say Birds of Tokyo would be a lock given they've just released an album and have fresh material.

Not sure if they would do the Birds and Karnivool double though?

That would be awesome actually!

Nothing else mentioned has grabbed me. If KoL came, I would be working hard to try make sure some pidgeons interfered and saved us all.

Ive heard a lot of talk about Blink 182 coming. Which means nothing to me, because I hate the pricks.

We can now say that with some arm twisting we’ve managed to find a leak straight from the source, the Big Day Out office. We’re prepared to say that Soundgarden will headline Big Day Out 2011 playing on the blue stage. Kings Of Leon will be the orange stage headliner. Stone Temple Pilots will also appear, as supports for Soundgarden on the blue stage.

Triple M recently broke the story that Australian promoters were overseas at Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, and had signed on Soundgarden for a tour early next year. This fits in well with what we’re told about Big Day Out 2011.

Good times.

Ditto, have avoided it for years (last one was the year Tool played, simply because I missed out on sideshow tickets).

Looking shizen so far. Needs bulk redemption, fast.
Agreed, it's looking incredibly average at this point, generally the most interest I take in is who fills the midday to 5 time slots this year I found Miami Horror, Passion Pit & Kasabian to be some of my favourite sets of the festival. I'm hoping for similar surprises this time round. Problem is Splendor took almost every act which I would have wanted on my BDO so I am expecting to be underwhelmed.

The Living End have some new material apparently and are BDO regulars so would have to be considered likely as well wouldn't they?
