Cotchin won't win it this year, so I will say Dangerfield.

The guy's speed combined with strength allows him to win so much ball on the inside and just as damaging on the outside. He has this uncanny ability to get the ball and burst away from a pack, setting up so much play forward of centre. I think he will take it to the next level next year, finals experience will do a lot for him, as will another pre-season and the knowledge that he is a gun and he can take the game.

What can I say, I am a huge fan.

If Beams had less competition he would win it this year

Cotchin will probably get one first

Could say the same about Swan/Pendlebury. What makes them such a good team is that they've got so many impressive midfielders. If he had less competition ie. Take away 1,2 or even 3 of their premier ball winners, then they aren't always winning games. Beams can only do what he can in the team he is apart of. Every vote will be hard earned, so you really can't say statements like that without some hard compelling facts to back it up.

Personally, I reckon he would poll as many votes as I imagine he will without a combination of Swan, Pendlebury, SB, Thomas etc. but I'm of the thinking that umpires heavily weight voting towards wins and without those players, Collingwood doesn't win as much as they do. Only difference is, he gets a few more votes in wins, but he gets less votes in other games because they're losses. You lose something, you gain something.

But I digress. Dangerfield will be a level above.

I agree with all of this (and not just because I'm a Crows supporter), he is a rare player. What holds him in good stead for the Brownlow is that he is very noticeable on the footy field. He has such a unique style and movement that he stands out in a pack. The other thing he has in his favor is that his biggest Crows rival, Scott Thompson, is a little chatty towards the umps and that may give Dangerfield the 3 votes in a clinch. Add to that Adelaide has won 17 games and will most likely get the 3 votes from at least 14-15 of those, I think he will give a very good showing. I'd be very surprised if he isn't at least top 3 at the end of the night...

Cotchin. Just a rare talent. Can play up forward too. Has a better defensive game (by a whisker) than the other two and a better inside game too. The others (esp Dangerfield) have better outside games.

But hey, we a splitting hairs. All great young champs!! May share the charlie next year which would be a great result!

Depends on this year, I'd say Dangerfield is a good chance having been in many winning games, he breaks lines and has a style of play that stands out (much like Cotchin, he's played in more losing games though)

All are awesome. Funnily enough though I'm really leaning towards Beams as the best at the moment. His goal sense is absolute top drawer.

I guess the better question concerning future Charlies is this: these blokes are just 22 years of age, in winning sides, in their respective leadership groups (two are probably going to be captain), and will enjoy increased rep/stature (shouldn't even be a consideration but we know how the umps vote) as well as skill, physicality/fitness, decision-making and experience over the next 5-8 years - will anyone else get a look in?

If these blokes poll top 10 this year, ahead of guys like Pendlebury and J. Selwood, who they've already had better years than (and are slightly younger and less experienced than), who's going to rise with them as the older blokes decline? Josh Kennedy perhaps? Fyfe maybe if he has that elite-level breakout season these guys just had. Cyril maybe is he pushes into the mids and finds more of it?

Among this year's serious Brownlow contenders I don't see GAJ going anywhere anytime soon, Swan will always poll well but probably won't play on for many more seasons, Pendles has had a down year by his lofty standards and should win one before he hangs up the boots, and Watson is very deserving but also probably very close to his ceiling.

When these guys hit their peak in that 25-27 range no one will be within cooee of them...

Dangerfield will win it this year. He wouldn't have to dominate a whole game like others would, he is a beast of a footballer who stands out. Has big patches when it counts as well as dominating other games. Will catch the eye for sure and, imo, will win it.

I honestly think they'll all win one. Maybe Cotchin first. I honestly believe these 3 are the next Hird, Voss & Buckley.
